User talk:Renaire
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Renaire, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Art Jakarta, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

- Oh! Yes I am actually work for Art Jakarta but I'm not specifically paid for editing or write anything about it on Wikipedia. However, the reason I started to get into it was to correct and add on more information about Art Jakarta that some other people has written on this platform.
This help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. - As I was on it I thought, might as well make an article about my fair director, Tom Tandio. I was trying to be neutral but seems like I referenced too much on interviews articles. I also noticed I had to disclose my relation with the topic but I failed to follow on how to do that. Renaire (talk) 12:25, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- Please see WP:PAID, but I will post instructions below on how to disclose. Note that paid editing is not limited to specific payment for edits, but includes any paid relationship with a topic, including employment. 331dot (talk) 14:01, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Renaire. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Renaire. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Renaire|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 331dot (talk) 14:02, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, and thank you for your notice.
- I do work for Art Jakarta and attempted to provide more information about it on an existing article, but I am not paid specifically for that. The article just intrigues me, since it doesn't covered as much information about Art Jakarta as I'd like it to and I thought I could just help myself. While I'm at it, I also tried to create a page for the Fair Director. I am in no way paid to write on both topics, and I did try to be neutral with my writing. Although unfortunately, I'm lacking experience and I suppose I got too carried away with more subjective references like articles from direct interviews.
- Since I'm not paid to write on any of those articles, not necessarily a die-hard fan of neither of them either, and I believe I can write more appropriately in a neutral way as I "learn by doing" this, I'm not sure where my position is to correct this situation and whether I still have to disclose any "employer" or "client" since I have none, related to these writings.
- Also the user page edit doesn't offer me the "visual edit" option and I feel somewhat overwhelmed and not sure about the correct way of typing things on it. Renaire (talk) 14:21, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not familiar with the visual editor (personally I find it clunky) but I'll make a blank edit to your userpage, that may help. As I said above, "paid editing" is not limited to specific payments for edits or instructions to edit, it includes any paid relationship such as employment. If you find the coding too challenging, you may simply type out a statement declaring your employment. 331dot (talk) 14:26, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- I see. Thank you very much for helping me understand better.
- For the Art Jakarta article, I will propose changes on the talk page instead of doing a direct editing. And for the article of the Fair Director, I think I came across an option to suggest/request for an article to be created by someone else? I will try that as well.
- I was just a reader before, and recently made an account. Seeing how Wikipedia works first hand and get to know people like you has been pretty cool. Thank you again! Renaire (talk) 14:34, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry I forgot to add:
- Yes I will regularly (?) type out statements about myself including my employment in my user page. Thank you. Renaire (talk) 14:35, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
