License tagging for Image:HowardMiamiMennonite.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:HowardMiamiMennonite.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:02, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Oak Grove and Hochstetlers

[edit]

I'm not sure about Cornelius on the Oak Grove page.

Also, to help you out with the Hochstetler surname page, I recommend going to http://www.hostetler.net/origins/fdescend2.cfm for some additional information, if not the Hochstetler Decendants book. Thanks, Hochstetler51 00:53, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Reidhoch. I would be glad to tinker with the article. I think the main issue with the article is that it needs to be expanded and reorganized; the tone seems to be fairly encyclopedic. This week is a little busy, but I will start working on it in earnest a soon as I can. Wachholder0 14:07, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is accomplished. Wachholder0 05:37, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What else should be done to this article? Is it complete? Wachholder0 22:00, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Heywood Banks article.

[edit]

Hi Reidhoch,

I appreciate your pointing out the that the man on American Idol was not actually Amish, I should have done further research. I have modified your edit to identify him as "urban Amish", per this citation.[1]

Take care,

Larry

John Black and EJ Wells

[edit]

According to the dialog at the time EJ shot John, he makes a very clear statement "brother against brother." EJ is technically considered John's step-brother in the convoluted world of soaps and the DiMera family. John is Daphne's son, EJ is Stefano's son. Daphne and Stefano were married, therefore their children would be step siblings if they are not blood siblings. It's confusing, but we were doing a genealogy project and worked out how they were related back then. Thank you. IrishLass (talk) 14:26, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Morgan Hollingsworth

[edit]

Repeatedly recreating previously deleted pages is a violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you could be blocked from editing. Please do not continue reinstating the Morgan Hollingsworth page. Non-notable minor characters do not warrant pages. This is a formal warning. KellyAna (talk) 17:29, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license

Unspecified source for Image:Batman.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Batman.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:29, 19 July 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:33, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File permission problem with File:HowardMiamiMennonite.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:HowardMiamiMennonite.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 15:13, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
