Internet culture

[edit]

I appreciate your willingness to help with the Internet Culture WikiProject ([1]), but how about you make the project active first, improve the project's page, and THEN remove the activity tag - not the other way around? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk to me 17:07, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Improve the page how? I want to help, it's fun stuff. I am happy to do whatevers. ReginaldTQ (talk) 17:25, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My little Pony is not a meme

[edit]

My little Pony is not a meme sins the biggest part of the internet culture dislikes them, please stop posting this false information that pony's are a meme. besides that pony's should not be in the 4chan article, sins the may have originated from 4chan, but the 4chan community hates pony's and they are not a part of the 4chan culture Kusaga (talk) 14:09, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea what you are talking about. MLP is definitely a meme. ReginaldTQ (talk) 01:00, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Restoration Hardware, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hardware (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:53, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am confused by some recent edits by an IP editor to the Restoration Hardware article... I am not sure how to handle it. I'm just confused why they removed the CEO as a key person, etc Does this need to be reported? Should I just leave it alone?

If you think it's a problem, go ahead and revert it, and then discuss why you think it's a problem on the article's talk page. There doesn't appear to be a problem with the edit by itself, so only revert it if you feel the edits did not improve the article. Hope this helps! Howicus (talk) 18:57, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

p.s. If you undo the IP's edits and then the IP reverts you, don't just revert them, because that's the start of an edit war. Discuss it on the talk page instead. Howicus (talk) 18:57, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much! I will re-add the CEO information, because I cannot see why that would be a problem? Most companies have that. I certainly don't want any wars, so I'll take your advice, thanks!!!ReginaldTQ (talk) 00:31, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:GaryFriedmanCEO.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:GaryFriedmanCEO.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 02:37, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on File:David Green CEO and founder of Hobby Lobby.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.hobbylobby.com/our_company/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. reddogsix (talk) 10:27, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Templates you removed

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Unforgettableid. I thank you very much for your contributions to Wikipedia. But I wanted to let you know that one or more of your your recent contributions may be undone because some of them appear to be mistaken.

Paid editors sometimes act very sneakily on Wikipedia. May I humbly suggest that, for now, you avoid removing any maintenance templates from any articles about companies, products, or services — unless you propose it on the talk page first, someone concurs, and nobody objects. This will help make sure nobody wrongly suspects you of being a paid editor.

Cheers! —Unforgettableid (talk) 03:08, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license

[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:Hcflogo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Hcflogo.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 01:45, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Hampton Creek (emblem).png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Hampton Creek (emblem).png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Help with review?

[edit]

Hi ReginaldTQ,

I noticed you're a member of the Wikipedia project for Internet Culture. I have a couple of small updates for the article about Letgo, one of the largest new apps, with 75 million downloads, and $375 million in funding. While I'm an experienced Wikipedia editor, and have created many articles, I am a paid consultant to Letgo. So, in accordance with the conflict of interest policy, I'm looking for a review of my proposed updates by an independent editor. WP: COI.

If you might be able to help with a review, you can find the requests here: Talk:Letgo#Updates_to_letgo

Thanks,

Mandatory paid editing disclsoure

[edit]

Hi ReginaldTQ. I work on conflict of interest issues in Wikipedia. I was just following a thread of paid editing that led from other content into Joshua Tetrick and JUST, Inc., that led me to your contribs. Your edits look like those of a freelancer or PR person.

Information icon

Hello ReginaldTQ. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:ReginaldTQ. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=ReginaldTQ|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. Jytdog (talk) 19:26, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
