Move debate
[edit]I do believe that this naming controversy needs to be nipped once in for all. Based on the feedback you and the others have given me, please do let me know if you find my proposed solution Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Solutions? suitable to proceed further. =Nichalp «Talk»= 08:51, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- The article needs quite a bit of reorganization before it can be put up on FAC. But, its not going to get past the FAC stage unless the name issue is first resolved, as the FAC process does not promote unstable articles. First the name needs to be resolved, then only can the article be featured. However that should not hinder the page improvement. Just a note, I will be out of town from tomorrow, the 23rd to the 4th, with little or no access to the internet. You are right, things need to calm down. As for the name of the article, I am currently seeing it as Burma don't know why. =Nichalp «Talk»= 15:11, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have added a note on ANI. I hope you can pull out some rational thinkers in the meanwhile and sort the name. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 15:48, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- A fair and well expressed comment, RegentsPark. (Am I chasing your ducks now???) Angstriddenyouth (talk) 21:47, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

I see where you're coming from, and thanks for that! So I've apprpriately revised it; make no mistake now, it's the right place and there are numerous citations. I don't encourage "cut'n'paste"; I for one, always add some prose using plan facts for more pleasant reading aesthetics. Regards.--Got Milked (talk) 07:30, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

RfA
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to say that I hope I don't appear to be an asshole there, but I'm truly worried about how things are going. I plan on letting Nomoreusernames know that I'm not trying to be an asshole.... regards, Beam 01:04, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. The opposes that I agree with, like sandys and isperms are the ones that question maturity and trust. With so many opposes I don't see how this can be considered as a consensus of the community. I have came up with a fair solution and presented it, with detailed reasoning, on his talk page after he responded on mine. Beam 02:17, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Interesting indeed. As I say on his talk page he has the biggest opportunity, maybe in Wiki RfA history, to make this a legendary RfA. To make himself one of the most humble and well deserving admins of Wikipedia. I really, and truly hope that he takes my suggestion. It would be so good! Beam 02:22, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
I am proud of the kid, and I hope he comes back better than ever, just wanted to thank you for your patience dealing with me. You showed good faith in believing me to be acting in a way that wasn't evil or a jerk. Thanks man. Beam 17:39, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Gai Moulin
[edit]No problem ... I try to keep an eye on anything that involves detective fiction and figured you had made a typo, or something of the sort. Nice work on the Maigret infobox -- what a huge project!! Accounting4Taste:talk 16:21, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Tay Za
[edit]You were interested in an article on Tay Za. I put this together but am not allowed to begin an article - not sure why not. Anyway, you might like to use it if you know how to start articles. Tay Za (probably born 1964) is a Burmese businessman, and son-in-law of Than Shwe, the leader of the Burmese military government.
His major business interests include Htoo Holdings and Air Bagan, the country's first and only privately-owned airline. In 2006/2007 Htoo Trading, a division of Htoo Holdings involved in teak log exports, was Burma's top private exporter and fifth largest overall, with gross revenues of $65.1 million.[1]
Other activities include construction, tourism, infrastructure projects, and mobile telephone services. He maintains close relations with the military leadership - a son of key junta member General Thura Shwe Mann serves on the board of Htoo Trading,[2] and his Myanmar Avia Export, Burma’s sole representative of Russia’s Export Military Industrial Group and of the Russian helicopter company Rostvertol,[3] was instrumental in the junta’s 2002 purchase of advanced MiG-29 fighters for US$130 million.[4]
Sean Turnell, an economics professor at Australia's Macquarie University who specialises in Myanmar, calls Tay Za "easily the most flamboyant of the tycoons that Burma has produced" [5] According to Thailand-based opposition sources, he and former drug-lod Lo Hsien Han paid for the $300,000 wedding of the daughter of Senior-General Than Shwe in 2006, and he is reported to be romantically involved with another daughter.[6] Than Shwe's family frequently stay at a Tay Za-owned resort, and he is reported to act as a business agent for the family in Singapore.[7]

- I created the page and pasted in the text. Go ahead and add/modify anything you like. Thanks! --Regents Park (roll amongst the roses) 15:27, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks muchly. I found out why I couldn't create the page, one of those embarrassingly obvious things: I wasn't signed in. PiCo (talk) 06:24, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
- Re my putative wish for anonymity: why search for reasons when sheer incompetence is on offer?
- Here's a nice site on all sorts of Burmese magnates - and it includes pictures. Any way we can get them into Wikicommons?
- I'd like to do an article on Lo Hsien Han, or Lo Hsin Han, or whatever it may be, the father of Stephen Law - he and Khun Sa were rival drug lords in the Shan State for decades, and are now both respected businessmen in Rangoon.PiCo (talk) 10:55, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Gandhi
[edit]Soooooooooo, why don't you think we should use Mahatma Gandhi? Beam 14:04, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Your first two points are fine and arguable but your third really has little relevance imo. I've also seen others bring that up and while I respect the man Gandhi, I don't think his personal opinion of the name Mahatma Gandhi has a lot of credence. But I welcome a thoughtful user to the discussion! I don't know if you noticed but I've been subject to some abuse at that page recently and I'm happy to see you there, honestly. Beam 15:42, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
It is so because that's what Wikipedia's policy says. It's the most common way of calling that man and thus the name of the article. Which is why I think the same should be done for Mahatma Gandhi. Beam 15:52, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
I wouldn't argue about Saint Francis because I don't really know and haven't talked about him or studied him. But when it comes to Mahatma Gandhi or Alexander the Great, I have read about them and talked about them and discussed them with friends. And, as one article reflects and the other use to reflect, Mahatma Gandhi and Alexander the Great are the way they are known. And that's what I've found from my life experience. I haven't really studied or discussed Saint Francis enough to make that argument. Beam 15:59, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
See, this is why I'm glad you're joining the convo. Recently I've been attacked, insulted, bully'd, intimidated, and lied about. All over Gandhi...not very Gandhi like at all! Beam 16:04, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Nice. Those groups of people agreeing on something is cool. I have dealt with similar nationals at other articles, good for them! Beam 14:37, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the archiving support, it's what I needed. Beam 15:38, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Well because I feel that me and you are friends, or close to it, let me be honest. WHAT THE FUCKITY FUCK FUCK! That's not what the article should be titled. WikiPolicy dictates otherwise, and now the tyranny of numbers has conquered the correct naming per policy. And you helped! Sigh. I won't fight for much longer, but damn am I saddened. Beam 16:02, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
I thought it was. Fowler pretty much entailed everything wrong with wikipedia when he attacked me and he's the main opposition to the correct thing being done here, or at least, he was. The tyranny in numbers of late makes it seem like a hopeless fight, but many fights for what is "right" seem hopeless at one point.
Sigh. I might end up letting it slide for now, but I won't forget it. I've never been good at giving up, but as they say, I can fight another day. Oh well, at least I gained a friendship out of this. Your friendship! haha, sucks for you ;) Beam 16:18, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- I really don't know what that^^^ was all about, but I just wanted to say that 'mahatma' just feels right. - Amog |Talk 18:41, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not really familiar with the WP naming policy, but somehow the full "Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi" on the top of the page and on the infobox feels weird. It's always been Mahatma, even in the text books. Also, I think he was referred to as Mahatma even during his lifetime. - Amog |Talk 05:31, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank You
[edit]Thank you for the comments on my RFA. Whilst I disagree with the comments about the Administrators as Team Leaders or managers, I appreciate your comments. It was not my intention to make it seem like a big deal. I was using it for the context of Administrators are who people usually turn to for help or guidance. :) <3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 20:53, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
- Don't worry about the misinterperations (I know I spelled that incorrectly), I should think of a different name to use instead of Manager or Supervisor, how about Wikipeida's 1-800 Questions and Complaints? :D<3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 21:22, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Re: Proposed deletion of Safilguda Railway Station
[edit]Hi there. I noticed that you had issued a proposed deletion notice on Safilguda Railway Station. I'm not sure if you are a newbie here, but railway stations are always notable. If your actions have been mistakenly executed, don't worry. They have been reverted. Cheers! Mspraveen (talk) 06:34, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
