Sarah Cahill

[edit]

Hello. It is not appropriate to be changing the links for Sarah Cahill to a dablink when no other article exists. I'll change these back again, but please stop this or discuss first. --After Midnight 0001 22:37, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are still making these changes unilaterally without discussion. Please stop or I will ask that you be blocked for disruption. --After Midnight 0001 22:47, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am adding an entry for Sarah Cahill the pianist. I am fixing the "ambiguous" links first, so that nothing is broken. I have changed all Sarah Cahill links to be either (pianist) or (beauty queen). I have added Sarah Cahill (new) which will be the disambiguation. OK? Reechard 04:08, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not OK. This is not the correct way to do this. I have edited Sarah Cahill to point to your new article. When you create the new article, you put a link at the top to point to the other. There is no need to create a dab page since there are only 2 articles and the current one can occupy the primary entry. If you disagree, you should do a proposed move instead of working unilaterally. --After Midnight 0001 22:56, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Note, I hope that I did not WP:BITE, but I needed to get your attention. I have posted a template at the top of this page to try to help you find your way around. --After Midnight 0001 23:00, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see your point and normally, I would agree. But, in this case, no. This particular person is v. important in the contemporary music world, has hosted a radio program for many years, has many recordings, produces many concerts, and commisions new works. So, I am going to have to appeal this to someone else.Reechard 04:08, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Just go to WP:RM and follow the instructions for a controversial move. So you know, if there is a future need to move the current article, convention would put it at (pageant titleholder) rather than at (beauty queen). Also, please remember to sign your posts. --After Midnight 0001 23:13, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Will do. Thanks! Reechard 04:08, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. I'm going to move some of the articles back for now (only for the pageants - I'll leave the pianist stuff alone). We can always revisit after your move request is settled. Please let me know if you need any help with things. Even if we don't agree initially we can still work together to improve things as long as we seek consensus. Also, I've been around here for a while, so if you need any general help, I can be a good resource. --After Midnight 0001 23:26, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing... I did actually spend time trying to figure out what to do, and I think the wiki help would benefit from a noticeable mention of this standard practice... (placing a [single] disambig. pointer at the top of a newly-ambiguous page). After all, this can be expected to happen more and more at time marches on! Reechard 04:08, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's something that may have been a bit harder to find, but I think that what you are looking for is in WP:DAB in the Disambiguation links section, specifically the part about toplinks. Hope that helps, if that isn't what you meant, just let me know. On another topic, it looks like you are keeping a tasklist on this page. You might want to consider moving that to your userpage, or perhaps to a sandbox or subpage, and then just leave this talkpage for discussions. If you want help setting up a subpage, I can help with that also. --After Midnight 0001 05:19, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved my todo list to my user page, as per req. bye for now, and thanks.Reechard 05:31, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Editor Review

[edit]

Hi. Thanks for your note. :) I have replied. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:56, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

helping Djpinklady

[edit]

hi. thanx for your edit on Daisy Whitney. I appreciate it. Djpinklady (talk) 23:47, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

sure thing, Djpinklady! Did you ever notice the colon is used to thread comments in your talk page? Also, you're not supposed to delete stuff out of your talk page. And, we're supposed to have a place for new stuff. I'm starting a new, empty section at the top, "Comments". See? Reechard (talk) 01:29, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was wrong!

[edit]

After Midnight and Moonriddengirl, just thought I'd say for the record, I do realize how wrong I was. (see above). I was a newbie! Thanks for your patience. Now that time has passed though, one thing that might help in future... For living persons, it should be strongly suggested that a middle name or professional id. should be used, so as to collide less. Then, have the simpler first, last redirect there. Collisions will keep happening! Reechard (talk) 02:05, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I sympathize with your frustrations with Wikipedia's copyright policies. But perhaps you do not know that the International Music Score Library Project was shut down for about a year because of copyright problems, so these things can be important. It would certainly be a shame if Wikipedia was shut down because of a similar problem. --Robert.Allen (talk) 09:28, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Robert, I appreciate the sentiment. I am actually familiar with the IMSLP takedown... and was relieved to see it come back up. I guess the problem was not the need to be very familiar with Polish copyright law... it was more about how to get the attention and assistance of the right Editors, who I was hoping would trust that I had done my homework. I was fairly aggressive and I think that helped... one editor disappeared ... and then reappeared after two hours, giving me the magic incantation and the details on how to handle the photo of Petri under Polish copyright law, which allowed it to land firmly in the Public Domain. If you'd like to review the arguments I made around this photo, it becomes apparent that this Polish music magazine could be a very good place to find uncredited "archive" photographs which, depending on the year taken, could also be Public Domain by the same law. Hello Reechard, I left some comments on my talk page for you. Not sure they are very helpful. Just some thoughts and a few obvious links. You may already know more about this than I do. --Robert.Allen (talk) 19:06, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Reechard. You have new messages at Moonriddengirl's talk page.
