Hi there, Radicalred05, and welcome to Women in Red. It's good to see you intend to help us improve Wikipedia's coverage of women. I noticed you made some rather strange edits on Holly Carter. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Crawford School of Public Policy, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Development. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

misleading edit summary

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Wuerzele. I noticed that you recently made an edit in which your edit summary did not appear to describe the change you made. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. In this edit you removed a date without justification but provided a misleading edit summary: You wrote "fixing grammar". Wuerzele (talk) 23:58, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

2022 monkeypox outbreak task force invitation

[edit]

Hello! I know you have an interest in the ongoing 2022 monkeypox outbreak, so I wanted to invite you to the Monkeypox Outbreak Task Force, which I started from the WikiProject of current events. A task force is similar to a WikiProject, with the exception that a larger WikiProject (in this case, the Current Events WikiProject) "host" the task force. The Monkeypox Outbreak Task Force’s goal is to improve any and all articles relating to the new outbreak. I hope you consider joining! Elijahandskip (talk) 23:54, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, and I will!
I'm currently working on the 2022 monkeypox outbreak in North America. Redstilledits (talk) 00:00, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there,

from your contributions, I do not believe that you fully understood, what the Template:Excerpt is used for: it shall provide a means to be able to fully include paragraphs or section from one Wikipedia article into another article. So, all this copying around is no longer needed and the excerpts are up-to-date because they just include the current information from the place where it resides in a base article.

I included the 2022_monkeypox_outbreak#Transmission section that you copied around a lot into the 2022 monkeypox outbreak in Germany article, so the information stays up-to-date when someone edits the information from 2022_monkeypox_outbreak#Transmission.

The section starting with

An ongoing outbreak of monkeypox was confirmed on May 6, 2022, beginning with a British resident who, after travelling to Nigeria (where the disease is endemic), presented symptoms consistent with monkeypox on April 29, 2022.

is not from 2022 monkeypox outbreak (as falsely stated in the copied hatnote), but from 2022 monkeypox outbreak in the United Kingdom#Background and can be included with: {{Excerpt|2022 monkeypox outbreak in the United Kingdom|section=Background|only=paragraphs|paragraphs=1|this=The following paragraph is}} like in 2022 monkeypox outbreak in Germany#Detection in Europe:

---EXCERPT---

An ongoing outbreak of mpox was confirmed on 6 May 2022, beginning with a British resident who, after travelling to Nigeria (where the disease is endemic), presented symptoms consistent with mpox on 29 April 2022. The resident returned to the United Kingdom on 4 May, creating the country's index case of the outbreak.[1] The origin of several of the cases of mpox in the United Kingdom is unknown. Some monitors saw community transmission taking place in the London area as of mid-May,[2] but it has been suggested that cases were already spreading in Europe in the previous months.[3]

---/EXCERPT---

So, please use the Template:Excerpt correctly, so that the information in all the monkeypox articles stays up-to-date.

Thank you. :) ElLutzo (talk) 00:27, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing that out. Won’t happen again. Sorry! 68.13.221.133 (talk) 02:30, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Heyo, Red! After being inspired by your cool works, I decided that I wanted to help Wikipedia a bit too. Of course, I can't really make cool essays with even the tiniest details, but I still want to help with grammar issues and more! Akerix (talk) 03:03, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You can fix grammar issues in Wikipedia, minor or major. I recommend you start fixing some minor grammar.
To start, go to your homepage. Click your user at the top. It should be blue. It leads to your homepage. There will be suggestions for pages that need work. You can pick a page from there. From there, Wikipedia will guide you.
  • Assuming you already setup your account*
Note that Wikipedia is a serious business. People will be formal, although will provide constructive criticism. Wikipedia is not that secure, and you may come across pages that had been affected by vandalism. If you do, please inform me
After editing a few pages, you will get used to it. Once you are used to it, you can start fixing major grammar, create a paragraph for near-empty pages, and so on.
To know how to edit Wikipedia pages, here it is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Editing#:~:text=Wikitext%20editing%20using%20the%20Source,add%20or%20change%20the%20formatting.
Also note that some pages are locked and protected, and only specific people can edit it. For example, I am extended confirmed. Pages that are protected and only extended-confirmed people can edit it are now open to me. Before I got that role, I wasn't able to.
More info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:User_access_levels
Wikipedia is not the place for trolling, vandalism, or messing around of any kind. Welcome and provide others with help if they are new once you are familiar with Wikipedia and know all it's functions.
Happy editing! Redstilledits (talk) 03:23, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

August 2022

[edit]

Information icon Hi Redstilledits! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at 2022 monkeypox outbreak in the United States that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Changes to the number of cases are not minor edits. FAdesdae378 (talk · contribs) 22:01, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
