User talk:Red red red smoke
The problem with this article is that Wikipedia is not for things made up in school one day; we require notability, which consists of multiple reliable sources documenting the subject of an article in order for the article to be verifiable. It doesn't matte how many people like it; as long as there aren't enough sources, it's going to be deleted. Veinor (talk to me) 11:52, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
How many sources do you need? Hundreds of students would gladly notify you about the legend.
- It's not an issue of quantity, it's an issue of quality. Our reliable source guideline dictates that the sources for articles have to have a known reputation for journalistic quality. Veinor (talk to me) 12:30, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Im just wondering how high is your status in the Wikipedia website hierarchy? Red red red smoke (talk) 12:41, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm an administrator, although it's not like it gives my arguments any extra credence; I'm going purely based off of the guidelines I've linked in my reply above. Above me are the bureaucrats who can sometimes get involved in various high-profile incidents but rarely in day-to-day affairs, and above those are the stewards who only get involved in very high-level stuff. But this has nothing to do with anything. Veinor (talk to me) 12:53, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Yeah I understand, I don't want to argue because I think Wikipedia is a superb website and I use it frequently. I just think that this incident has let me down slightly as I thought someyhing so small and harmful would not be allowed. It is disgusting I must admit. What problems would there honestly be if this page was uploaded? Keep the answer simple please, in truth there is nothing wrong in it and I believe you know that. - As I've been saying, every Wikipedia article has to abide by the verifiability policy, which essentially states that all material has to be backed up by a reliable source. The problem is that you haven't shown me any reliable sources for Red smoke; random people that go ot your school don't count, nor does the creator himself. If it was covered by the BBC or the New York Times or Ars Technica or something, those would be sources, or even a local newspaper or magazine. But the problem is you haven't provided any such citations. Veinor (talk to me) 13:06, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Class! He's been in many articles from my local newpspaper! About two or three in fact! So its now possible?! Red red red smoke (talk) 13:12, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- Again, it depends; are the articles about red smoke, or about the person behind it? It'd be helpful if you could provide me with an example of the articles. I'm not going to say either way until I see them; I don't want to make any premature judgments. Veinor (talk to me) 13:14, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Yes son! He is a successful school football manager and has guided the year 11 football team to the County Cup final, three years in a row, the only manager in Shropshire ever to do so. He also raises money for charity, he has been on various bike rides around Europe. Breaking more records as the only teacher in SHropshire to do so. Any more needed? - Is there any place these articles could be found online? (Sorry for the delay, real life and such). Veinor (talk to me) 00:39, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
