Welcome to wikipedia
Welcome to wikipedia from a fellow inhabitant (well, not right now, but in a few days) of south Nottinghamshire. (Noticed your edit on East Leake). - FrancisTyers 18:57, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
Greater Nottingham Partnership
You seem to be the expert on all things Nottingham-related, so maybe you can tell me who the Greater Nottingham Partnership are? If they're some kind of official (or semi-official) organisation, there should probably be an article about them! --RFBailey 00:48, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
English/British Bands
What is the situation for describing bands from say London, are they English or British and they from London, England or from London UK? I seem to remember it should be British. Bevo74 08:24, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- Personally I'd describe them as British unless they describe themselves specifically as English. If you are writing articles on bands however please be aware of notability requirements for bands. --pgk(talk) 08:35, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
A band from Scotland or Wales are always described as being Scottish or Welsh - and quite rightly. A band from England as well, should be decribed as being English. And naturally, Glasgow is always stated as being "Glasgow, Scotland" and Cardiff, "Cardiff, Wales" - so why should London be "London, UK"? I would appreciate it if you would leave the Style Council article as it is now - it is more accurate (more precise, not more accurate Bevo74 17:14, 22 July 2007 (UTC)), and they are in the right category. - Although I disagree regarding English, I would suggest that Cardiff would indeed be Wales and most bands originating from Cardiff would self identify as Welsh. Ultimately it's not something I'd enter into an edit war over, ultimately either is fine so unless there is a strong argument for one over the other it's best to leave things as they were (The same standard we'd apply to AD/BC vs CE/BCE, American spelling vs English spelling etc.) --pgk(talk) 13:16, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Yes fair enough, I really don't think this is worth an edit war. but I am wary of anonymous edits with very little history. Bevo74 18:47, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
