A better Everest name change than above...
[edit]As you were the creator of these pages I thought I should say that I've moved British Mount Everest Expedition 1922 to 1922 British Mount Everest Expedition and likewise with the 1924 one so that, eg, Portal:Mountains/Alpine_history has a consistent list, with event following date (eg 2008 K2 disaster). Unlike my misguided Base Camp suggestion above, I think this one works and I hope it's OK with you. Regards, Ericoides (talk) 22:12, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
- Seems logical to make this change. The date was put at the end as this is the way it was done on the German Wiki where much of the article originated. RedWolf (talk) 06:59, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
Inset maps

Deletion of Pakistan in Space
[edit]Please see the article Pakistan in Space. Copy the content of the article and then search it in google. It is directly copied from another site. I was going to tag it with CSD, but there is no template for it. What template can I user on it? Cheers. Mìthrandir (talk) 22:40, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
- I have tagged it with the appropriate template {{db-g12}}. I have the impression that the original creator of the article is a member of the organization where the copyrighted text came from but the text on the site does not appear to be in the public domain nor can it be freely used elsewhere. RedWolf (talk) 23:42, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help... Cheers... Mìthrandir (talk) 23:47, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
February Disambig challenge
[edit]Greetings! I've challenged my fellow disambiguators to help knock out more than a thousand disambig links a day for the month of February, and every bit helps. Please check out the list at Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links and see if you can get in the game for this month. Cheers! bd2412 T 03:37, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

WikiProject Mountains membership
[edit]Hello RedWolf - I am a new contributor and have written 2 articles so far on mountains in Wells Gray Park, BC, and I see you have assessed them. Can you answer this question please? I have joined the group called WikiProject Mountains Members and my name showed up as a member right away. I thought this might transfer over to WikiProject Mountains where there is a chart of participants with their areas of interest, but that hasn't happened yet. Are these 2 different groups? Do I edit the chart to add my name and interests or just wait a while for Wikipedia to catch up? Thanks. Roland Neave (talk) 05:47, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Roland. Welcome to the project. The chart on the project page is manually edited by project members. Please feel free to add yourself to the chart and optionally any areas of interest. RedWolf (talk) 07:06, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
Councillors canot be produced on demand.
[edit]I wholeheartedly agree Sir. On this very topic, you may be interested in joining the discussion on the category in WP:CFD at today's date. Laurel Lodged (talk) 21:12, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't really know exactly what you are referring to here. RedWolf (talk) 00:15, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.
For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:12, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Mount Muir
[edit]It was clear that they were the same article, so I merged them. Never heard of the mountain, and frankly don't care about where it is. Just move to wherever is appropriate.--MacRusgail (talk) 16:44, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:DS Making Movies.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:DS Making Movies.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude2 (talk) 04:13, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
- Someone has created a "free" version of the cover although I have my doubts about it being free. RedWolf (talk) 07:39, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the TfD response... I;m slowly subst the 2006 one, should have that finished within 48 hours or so and the latter can go as well... Sfan00 IMG (talk) 18:50, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hey buddy, http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Email_Director&action=edit&redlink=1 Email Director
Email, Fax and SMS marketing solution widely used in government, large and medium businesses: http://www.omidsoft.com
It seems you already have deleted this page in the past, I'm going to post a full description of this software here, I have no knowledge of Wikipedia article rules, to make it fast, I wanted to confirm with you if it will not be deleted, most of the information are copied from the publisher website with authorization. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Omidemail (talk • contribs) 16:59, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- The article was previously deleted (Sept 22, 2005) as it was a copyright violation where text was copied verbatim from another website. If you have permission to post text verbatim from the company website, keep in mind that by doing so, you give other people the right to also use that text without any further permission from the company. When copying text verbatim from another website where permission has been granted under one of the licenses used by Wikipeida (e.g. Creative Commons), please post a comment on the article's page stating as such. You may also want to consider creating an OTRS ticket granting permission to use the text on Wikipedia to alleviate any concerns/suspicions about permission being officially sanctioned. RedWolf (talk) 23:27, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
Hi, I have created http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_Director I am the website staff and has the copyright permissions, you can verify me. However, if there's something missing from the page causing to become deleted again, can you please help me to fix? Thank you very much for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Omidemail (talk • contribs) 16:39, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Joppenbergh FAC
[edit]Just wanted to let you know that I responded to your comments on the Joppenbergh FAC. I'm not really an expert on mountain terminology, so I left a couple of questions there. --Gyrobo (talk) 19:53, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, I just thought I'd comment here again. I'm pretty sure that I addressed your concerns over this FAC, and I was hoping that you'd provide a concrete support or oppose on the article as it currently stands. --Gyrobo (talk) 03:05, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Denali (operating system)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Denali (operating system) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. MarkDask 17:23, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Location map ID
[edit]Hello RedWolf. A little problem I have been running across on my infobox edits is how to indicate to the reader which location map is being used when the peak is located on the border between two countries. If one of the countries is easily recognizable by its shape, China for example, then this is usually not an issue. But if both countries are rather obscure and their shapes would not be recognized by most readers (example Lenin Peak on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan) then the reader would have no idea which country is represented or highlighted on the map. Is there a prefered method to address this issue?--Racerx11 (talk) 22:40, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
- I have moved this discussion to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mountains. RedWolf (talk) 18:34, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
Odd behavior in Infobox mountain
[edit]Check out Template:Infobox mountain/testcases#photo and map_relief=0. I can't figure out why the left side has a relief map. —hike395 (talk) 04:21, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
