I need to pay more attention to what I'm doing. I'm having fun learning to edit, but I don't have anywhere near enough time to devote to it. By the way, I'm a NASCAR fan, so I'll be joining that project, too. R.I.P. Bobby Hamilton. Hurrmic 21:26, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:ChesterJetsLogo.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:ChesterJetsLogo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Timothy Noah wrote an article at Slate.com about how his Wiki article had been nominated for deletion... when, in fact, it had not. He then went on a tear about Wikipedia's notability policies. He's clearly notable, as he's published a book, is a senior Slate columnist, and is interviewed and quoted in various newspapers and other media. I've closed the AfD again. Thanks for more Daytona pics!
We've really been making headway recently. It's helped that the weather has been cooperating spectacularly; gods but the last few weekends have been gorgeomous. You've been hitting Daytona Beach, other folks are getting Lee County and Brevard County, and I covered a good portion of Lake County this week. I think we may actually have pics for every registered historic place in Florida in the foreseeable future. Who'd'a thunk? Gracias again, and keep up the good work.

My watchlist is full of changes to the articles of members of racing families of many genres. The CfD resulted in delete. A bot took them all out the NASCAR subcategory and put them in no NASCAR category. Would you fix the mess? Royalbroil T : C 17:39, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think this really messes us up any. They should have been in the family categories in addition to some other NASCAR category (drivers, owners, etc.) If you know of specific articles that aren't in any, let me know and I can find a place for them. Recury 22:03, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

I am working with User:4u1e to develop the article for one of my racing idols Mario Andretti to "Good Article" status for WikiProject Motorsport. I hope to develop it to "Feature Article" some day. Would you critically review the article? Please give us feedback on the entire article, and in particular, areas that we have identified as weak: the introduction and the overall structure of the article (particularly the time in his life where he "racing in several series"). Let's use the talk page for the article for discussion. Thanks! Royalbroil 12:52, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:MassiveAttack-GroupFour.ogg
Thanks for uploading Image:MassiveAttack-GroupFour.ogg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 17:28, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
Image:MassiveAttack-UnfinishedSympathy.ogg
I have tagged Image:MassiveAttack-UnfinishedSympathy.ogg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 17:29, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello Recury, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:NASCAR logo.png) was found at the following location: User:Recury/NASCAR Temp. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 01:45, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Apropos RSX
Why do you keep removing this information about RSX? Sorry, but it's kind of ridiculous.
You say "that kind of info goes in the article itself".
No, that's wrong. Just look at a few other disambiguation pages - ABA, Ala, Ale (disambiguation) ... need some more examples? When somebody looks up an acronym like this, it's without any doubt information that belongs here.
So why exactly did you remove the following:
RSX, acronym conceived by Dan Brevik (orig. meaning Real-Time System Executive, then Resource Sharing)
217.236.251.223 19:53, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with you putting what it stands for, but putting what it stands for, what it used to stand for and who came up with the term is overkill. Read WP:DABMOS for info about style on disambiguation pages. You link to the article and you say what the subject of the article is. That's it. Recury 20:23, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, let's remove who came up with the term. Referring to operating systems, there are only those two meanings (as far as I know).
- And it's not only info for the RSX-11 article - the acronym was actually conceived for the forerunner RSX-15. Well, I had already added a quote telling this to the RSX-11 article. The first one I just tried - BMW, well then BMW (disambiguation) does NOT just "link and that's it". It says Bayerische ...
- 217.236.247.8 21:20, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- PS I still think though, it would be best to include this info in the RSX-11 line; you wouldn't mind, if some of this "a family of operating systems developed by Digital Equipment Corporation" was deleted?
- Well, this is really getting ridiculous; you turned these entries
- RSX-11, operating system family (orig. meaning Real-Time System Executive, then Resource Sharing Executive)
- Acura RSX, a sport compact/hatchback car made by Acura (i.e. Rally Sport eXperimental)
- into these entries
- RSX-11, a family of operating systems developed by Digital Equipment Corporation
- Acura RSX, a sport compact/hatchback car made by Acura
- and I bet you won't find many who think that was a smart change. The entries are NOT to long - and OTHER disambiguation pages say what acronyms stand for, too. Thus it's not very logical you don't change those, but act like a sentinel for the holy grail like RSX page.
- I don't want to waste more time in this ridiculous edit-war. I just hope you don't take a fancy in changing the German article with that info that I will enter in a second.

Racing videos
I uploaded a short video to the Figure 8 racing article to demonstrate the crossover in the center of the 8 in the unusual racing genre. Do you think that it would be helpful to upload a short (around 45 second) video of a recent late model race at notable racetracks to show what it is like to attend weekly races at the track? One is a green-white-checkered restart at Wisconsin International Raceway, and it follows the winner Kyle Busch. You can see the video on my youtube account here. Another video there is occasional Busch Series starter Lowell Bennett winning the 2007 Slinger Nationals at Slinger Super Speedway. Do videos like these help the reader understand the track better: using big words "Pertinence and encyclopedicity" (from WP:IMAGE)? Please respond here on your talk page. Royalbroil 09:05, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I can't watch your video because YouTube is blocked on this computer but I think in general a short video of a race at a track would be good for an article. The real question is about copyright. I know some tracks and series are really strict about this kind of thing, but the ones you mention would be OK I would think. If you have a program or a ticket stub from there, it probably talks about whether you need some kind of permission on there somewhere. Recury 13:19, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, so you agree that it is pertinent and encyclopedic. You can watch a sample video that I uploaded in the Figure 8 racing article - that's exactly what I'm talking about. You bring up a good point about the legality. Do you know where in Wikipedia I could ask about the legality - is there a place to ask legality questions? The ticket stubs have nothing on them - they are very generic. I will check out the track websites too. I could email the track asking for permission too. I talked with the owner of Wisconsin International Raceway when I helped the event sponsor with the national anthem in June, and he remembered me from doing the national anthem last year too. I have a contact who does marketing for a late model driver at Slinger Super Speedway who helps market the track too. Royalbroil 17:48, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Ice Hockey August 2007 Newsletter
WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear Recury/Archive/2007! You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed up as a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey. The purpose of this newsletter is to update on the goings on of the project, as there have been major changes, and a lot of new recognized content in the past few weeks. If you are an inactive user, you probably won't recognize the new and improved state of the WikiProject! From the project, Maxim. New recognized content By Maxim
Article Improvement By Maxim Upon some discussion on the WikiProject talk page, the Article Improvement Drive page was revamped by Krm500 and Maxim. It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status. Diacritics By Maxim In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt. Task forces By Maxim This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES. This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock. Requested Images By Maxim

WikiProject Ice Hockey newsletter
WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear Recury/Archive/2007! You are receiving as you are a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey There's been more new thing going on at WP:HOCKEY, and I think this will help you to stay informed. Since the last newsletter sent out in August, there's been great changes. Read on to find out! Maxim(talk) This just in:
New recognized content By Maxim Especially due to the featured topic drive, there have been many new featured lists promoted concerning NHL awards. Here's the full list of all the 13 FL's promoted since the last newsletter.[1][2]
There have been no new good articles or featured articles. Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy has been given A-Class status due to multiple issues raised at FLC.
Did You Know? By Maxim
Featured Topic Drive By Maxim Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:
Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion. |

Fart
Hello. I noticed that you've twice redirected Fart to Flatulence. There is no consensus for such a change and so your actions have twice been undone by different editors (the second one being me). I was going to inform you of the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fart but, on re-reading it, I see that you in fact participated. Your preferred option was not supported. Acting unilaterally in the way you have now done to implement the change you want when you have seen that it's not the consensus viewpoint is not terribly constructive, and it probably would be best not to carry on. Regards, BencherliteTalk 19:40, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- There is plenty of support on the talk page for a redirect. The deletion debate was about deletion, not redirecting. Recury 19:42, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. --Kukini hablame aqui 19:51, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Can't say I see the support here or here, and there's no discussion since then, apart from at the AfD. Speaking of which, I note that you in fact commented in favour of redirection in that discussion, so it's a bit odd to say now "The deletion debate was about deletion, not redirecting." Your change has been undone by a third editor. If you want to try to get consensus for your redirect, discuss on the talk page please. BencherliteTalk 19:54, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- If you or any of the other editors would like to get WP:REDIRECT or WP:WINAD changed to support your position, you are welcome to try, but until then, Wikipedia is not a democracy and votes are not terribly helpful in cut-and-dry situations like this. Recury 20:00, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- Due to consensus, as noted by Bencherlite, this is a cut and dry do not redirect. New and different consensus will be necessary, in my view for such a redirect to be appropriate. Furthermore, you have reverted 3 times in a 24 hour period on this issue. Please try another route. Kukini hablame aqui 20:03, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
