Manual of Style
[edit]Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that in one of your edits, you added periods to "hr" and "min". Per MOS:POINTS, Wikipedia does not use periods for abbreviations units of measurement. Another one of your edits changed the variety of english from Hong Kong English to Anerican English. I see that you have been doing this to other articles as well, and it's fine if the variety of English is inconsistent within an article, but per MOS:ENGVAR, articles that have strong ties to a specific English-speaking nation should generally use that nation's variety of English. The edits you made to Boeing 787 Dreamliner are fine as the aircraft is built in the US, but Cathay Pacific is based in Hong Kong, which has its own variety of English, and therefore should be written in Hong Kong English. It's perfectly normal for new editors to not understand the Manual of Style, and you won't run into trouble for not knowing that you are breaking it, but doing your best to follow it will help you in the long run. - ZLEA T\C 18:29, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. I will follow the different kinds of English in different articles. I'm actually in Hong Kong so it's silly for me to change that. Realsaltyguy (talk) 04:35, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
