Welcome!

[edit]

Rebecca, good to see you made some edits at Miguel Ángel Asturias‎. Keep it up! --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 07:39, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rebecca, I was wondering if you could teach me how to upload images. I know that GA have lots of images, so maybe we could post pictures of the novels next to each title? Thoughts?... Talk to you soon! (Erica...sorry, I don't know how to make it show my username...)

Adding images

[edit]

Rebecca, I saw you were trying to add an image.[1] I'd like to help out, but this is something I've yet to do with wikipedia, so it's a learning curve for me.

Do you have the image? Do you know whether or not there are any copyright restrictions?

Here are wikipedia's help pages on images. Let's try to work this out... --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 06:37, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome and image question

[edit]

Hi Rebecca, welcome from me too!

I'm a Wikipedia admin (we are the folk who try to keep the place clean and tidy) belonging to a relatively new group of editors who really like the idea of your class project and want to help out. I noticed above that you uploaded Image:Asturias.jpg with a copyright tag stating that it is in the public domain because it is work of the U.S. Government. If that's true, we really need some information to show that it is true. At the moment, it looks to me like it is copyrighted by The Nobel Foundation which is a private organization.

If you just made a mistake, don't worry: I can fix the copyright tag and add a "fair use rationale" for using the image in the article. Please reply here, as I need to know what the situation is with this image in order to sort out the copyright. Thanks, and have fun editing, Geometry guy 19:19, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed this now, so you don't need to comment here, but please feel free to say Hi on my talk page if you like. Geometry guy 23:43, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Be careful with plagiarism!

[edit]

Rebecca, I note that some of your edits (e.g. this one) are not well-sourced, and not much changed from this uncited source. Be careful: this is plagiarism! If you are having trouble with this, see me. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 00:04, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please don't be discouraged by the many recent edits to Miguel_Ángel_Asturias. Part of the beauty of Wikipedia is that anyone can contribute to any article at any time to make it better. There are no value judgements on contributions. Editors contribute because they just want to make Wikipedia better. Your edits have greatly improved the article; we're just trying to make it even better still. Lets keep going: we should be able to make GA. Geometry guy 00:50, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What Gg said. The article is improving by leaps and bounds, and much of that is thanks to you. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 00:58, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Miguel Angel Asturias

[edit]

Yay! --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 23:13, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Someone tagged this sentence "Asturias spent his final years in Madrid,[citation needed] where he died in 1974." as it needs a citation. Could you find a reference for it? Cheers! Wassupwestcoast (talk) 03:49, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good Article Review: Four more days

[edit]

A reminder that you only have four more days before the Good Article Review deadline of Miguel Ángel Asturias. My feeling is that there's still quite a bit to do here, especially in terms of replacing weak sources and fleshing the article out. There are some useful notes here on the talk page. But you're close. Keep at it! --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 21:53, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Donaldson ref

[edit]

hey I saw you editing Miguel Ángel Asturias (great job so far btw :) ) and noticed that you removed a sentence along with the donaldson ref, the thing is that that ref was also being used for the following sentece: His use of color is striking and immeasurably more liberal than in earlier novels."[32] and now the ref is broken (thats why your getting the red text at the refs) anyway what I wanted to ask is if you have another source to add to that sentence? if not I can restore the donaldson ref (just to that sentence not the one you removed) which would fix the refs.Cheers! Acer (talk) 00:54, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind this has been fixed, feel free to remove the source and add a better one though :) Acer (talk) 01:11, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Other

[edit]

Hi! This may not be the best place to ask this and I dont know how often you check this, but, I am a little confused as to what the grammar homework for Spanish 302 is for tommorow night. I know that the 'breve ensayo' is about the passage on page 209 ('Se Reabre en Francia el debate sobre la Eutanasia') but didn't quite catch what he said about the grammar, do you think you could fill me in?--Mfreud (talk) 05:07, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Leal reference

[edit]

Hi, I saw this change, and was a little confused: 1) is the Leal source an article, rather than a book? 2) you need specific references to the specific page to which your citation refers. Can you clarify this for me? Thanks. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 21:40, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I undid that edit: Leal is an article, but we need specific references to individual pages for each citation, as Jbmurray says. Can you provide them please? Thanks Geometry guy 09:26, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
