[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Akon‎. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. -SpuriousQ (talk) 20:01, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Caldorwards4 (talk) 00:32, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Michig (talk) 12:44, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning; the next time you insert a spam link, as you did at Black Uhuru, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines.--Michig (talk) 18:12, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I 100% disagree that my edit is SPAM. Stating that this is a "last warning" is totally unreasonable when there is total sincerity in adding a legitimate external link that relates to the article and would be of significant interest to readers as further expansion of information. See WP:EL for what would/would not be considered suitable external links. Links to a booking agency are certainly not appropriate.--Michig (talk) 08:44, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I respectfully request that you reconsider your thoughts on this manner. With a little examination of external links within WP, it becomes apparent that links to booking agencies is very common throughout WP. It is understood that "just because one external link is found" does not necessarily entitle the addition of similar links. However, when it is widespread, it becomes obvious that other editors find this practice to be within the standards of WP and NOT considered SPAM. Here are a few such names found: Wening-LaMonica (more than 50 external links found), Grabow Entertainers (or grabow.biz), bookingentertainment.com

It is not unreasonable to consider that a reader of articles on entertainment talent to be interested in hiring such entertainers.

Manually adding one external link to a page that offers information about a musical artist seems to be useful to readers and acceptable to other editors. Your personal policy/opinion seems to be unduly restrictive to what others consider to be very acceptable.

Please reconsider. Rdlf123 (talk) 10:57, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid Rdlf123 - I assume you are Mr. de la Font - that you are under some misapprehensions as to the purpose and policies of Wikipedia. It is an encyclopedia not a business directory. The fact that other links exist does not justify the inclusion of yours. What is obvious is that your account is a Single Purpose Account and your edits are solely aimed at driving traffic to your own site offering commercial services. This is a plain example of Conflict of Interest and would be appropriate for administrative action. Michig has shown restraint in just issuing you a warning at this stage. Protesting it further, or continuing the behavior, is not advisable. Wwwhatsup (talk) 06:11, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
