A personal note

[edit]

Hey, Rappidz. I saw your note on the page I tagged for deletion, and just wanted to drop in here to give you a handwritten note, rather than those templates that you got before. I understand that you want to write articles about stuff that's important to you, but the problem is that Wikipedia has pretty strict entry criteria for new articles. See, the thing is that we need to be able to write about our subjects things that are verifiable, things that can be backed up by independent, reliable sources. In short, we need the subjects of our articles to be notable. After all, our articles are only as good as their sources; if a subject doesn't have any sources about it, then there's really nothing we can confidently write about it. A useful guideline for measuring notability is called the general notability guideline; it will give you a rough idea of what's notable and what's not (although not everything that meets the GNG will be considered notable enough). I'm afraid that I don't think your article demonstrates enough credible notability.

Don't worry about it, though! Lots of people on Wikipedia started out with their articles getting deleted. It's no big deal, really! Stick around; this can be a pretty fun place, once you start to understand how it works. And just because your subject isn't notable enough now doesn't mean he won't be notable enough in the future. We just have to wait until he is notable enough, and then the article can be written. So just relax, and check out some things on Wikipedia to get a sense of how things work. A great place to go for this is called the Teahouse; it's a place for new users to ask questions and get answers about how Wikipedia works. I happen to be a host there; I and the other hosts would be more than happy to help you out! Thanks! :) Writ Keeper 20:04, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
