Speedy deletion of Randy Johnson - Director

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Randy Johnson - Director, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD G12.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 04:31, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As a matter of policy, Wikipedia does not use copyrighted text in articles, except in limited quantities such as quotes. Wholesale use of text may be permissible if the text is licensed under GFDL, in the public domain, etc. Accordingly, I have deleted the article above—and your user page—because they are wholesale copies of other web pages.
Note also that Wikipedia is not to be used as a vehicle for promotion. As a general rule of thumb, it is better to wait for independent persons to write an article about you than to write an article about yourself. —C.Fred (talk) 04:38, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, as you did at Randy Johnson - Director. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. Bfigura (talk) 04:42, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Randy Johnson - Director. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Bfigura (talk) 04:43, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to ignore our policies by introducing inappropriate pages to Wikipedia, such as Randy Johnson - Director, you will be blocked. Do not recreate articles that are blatant copyright violations. Doing so again will lead to your being blocked from wikipedia. Bfigura (talk) 04:45, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Further, if you have questions about what is or is not acceptable in an article, ask them on a talk page like this one before you attempt to recreate the article. —C.Fred (talk) 04:57, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
