JOrb
[edit]Hi. Your closure did not address the site ban under discussion. The discussion was not if the block was appropriate, but if a community ban was in order. The close should decide on the consensus of the ban, and inform the user of the result. It may be better left to an uninvolved admin. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 04:37, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi User:HighInBC. I have self-reverted the close and will leave it to someone else. Just so I have this right, the community is discussing whether a topic ban should be in place (IvanVector's proposal) should JOrb be successful in appealing the block, and this needs to be directly referred to in the close? I believe my close covered all the bases: Ymblanter's indef block, and the consensus for a topic ban and/or indef block, but I'm more than happy to leave it to someone else to write something more appropriate as needs be. RandomGnome (talk) 05:05, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- A block by an administrator can be reversed by any administrator. But a community ban decided by the community can only be reversed by the consensus of the community. It involves a closure that specifically refers to that and describes it as well as informing the user with a link to the discussion.
- Here is an example of a community ban that I have closed: [1], and the notification for the user: [2]. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 05:15, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, yes. I see now that this requires more action than just a close summary. Apologies for messing this up and thank you for the guidance and example. RandomGnome (talk) 05:24, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
