But I guess that's a good thing. :) OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 19:27, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Deletion problems.
Nope, no errors. It's not working on Explorer of Safari either. Here's a screenshot of the delete page as I see it. As you can see, the dropdown box defaults to "other reason" and the content of the article is left in the box. I appreciate your help with this. :) Thanks, PeterSymonds (talk) 21:19, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, I've found the problem. For some reason, User:Steel359/Protection js is interfering with it; I've taken it out and the deletion works fine now. If there's any way to make them co-exist...I find them both useful! I think protection.js runs a similar script to ^demon's old CSD script, so that probably has something to do with it but I wouldn't know. :) If it's not possible don't worry; I'd rather have the auto delete reasons back! Thanks, PeterSymonds (talk) 06:08, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Re your removed comment
My request that people stop talking about this dispute somewhere else is not about badsites, but rather about attempting to solve a dispute between a bunch of users who all are helpful to the encyclopedia. Posting there inflames the dispute. Thus, an easy solution is to stop posting there, right? PouponOnToast (talk) 19:19, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Userbox Latin Plurals
"I found the issue - you created it in two places: Template:Unimaginative Username/Userboxes/Latin Plurals and User:Unimaginative Username/Userboxes/Latin Plurals - and the latter (which has not been deleted) is the one that everyone used. —Random832 15:49, 10 March 2008 (UTC)"
- How do I fix that? Or did you? If so, thanks. Please reply on my talk page. Thanks. Unimaginative Username (talk) 05:56, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Firefox 3 Has Been Released
I am not very sure why the Mozilla Firefox page has been locked. Firefox 3 stable release is available for download, i am not sure why there are disputes. If you check the Download Day 2008 page, it is busy because of the many people downloading the software. The lock on the page is misleading people. The statement below all pages states " Encyclopedic content must be verifiable" the fact that Mozilla Firefox is not ready for download is not true and doesn't follow the trend of Wikipedia. An encyclopedia is to be accurate, i may be making a big deal of this issue, but i am bringing up a point. Editors should be able to add verifiable content. (Shawnnicholsonca (talk) 18:30, 17 June 2008 (UTC))
- I was not aware of the time of the lock.(Shawnnicholsonca (talk) 23:35, 18 June 2008 (UTC)).

I was wondering several things about this image:
- How was it made (what program)? Do you still have the source code? Ashlar Cobalt. Yes, I have the file
- Are the beveled edges accurate? (and, if so, what's the reason for them? It's a fairly distinctive feature, and this doesn't seem to be mentioned in the kilogram article) Yes, they are to the original prints used to make new prototypes. Though you can’t see them all, there are actually four different angles on the chamfered edges. They are there to prevent wear. Good point about the omission in the article. Now fixed
- Could this be done with a more natural lighting color than blue? Yes, but it’s time consuming to go through the ray-tracing and Photoshoping.
Could it be done with the ruler in cm? Maybe as another copy?nevermind saw your response to this on the FPC. But there is also >this<, more-enjoyable-to-write response to some editor who I felt was a bit too critical about my contribution.- Is the mirror finish accurate? If so, why does it have a mirror finish? As mirror-like as my program will allow, which isn’t too far off the real one. The finish helps keep the prototypes’ mass stable. Contaminants would get down into pores. I also think there is some catalysis (platinum, you know) going on with the hydrocarbon-based solves going on and rough finishes might aggravate that.

Template: Rename user
Hi! On WP:CHU, there are many requests that leave the words CURRENT and NEW as is. I have a request, could this template:
{{Renameuser |CURRENT |NEW |3 = Reason for requested renaming. }} ~~~~
Be modified to:
{{Renameuser |current= |new= |reason= }} ~~~~
I feel this would be more user friendly. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 18:44, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- I had created the image, and its easy to modify since it is SVG. There are two bots, User:SoxBot VI and User:Chris G Bot 3 that operate on the page. But I doubt that they need to look at the original template for this. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 06:01, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

... that arbitrators, being part of the community, are as entitled as anyone else to comment about things. As to the SV-C68-etc case, we are working through it. It's a lot of evidence, a lot of opinion, and deciding what's best to do is not a trivial matter. Unless your impatience shows that you're convinced it's simple and you've already made up your mind, of course. Matthew Brown (Morven) (T:C) 06:01, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Custom edit messages
Hi Random, what is the deal with this? From what I've read, I like it - if I understand, when people edit my talk page I can show them a notice on my strong preference to keep threads where they originally started. (Or I could say "poopoo", a longstanding wiki-ambition of mine :).
So what is the procedure to set up my own MediaWiki:Editnotice-3-Franamax? Make a sandbox page and ask a random admin? And is there a centralized page on this that I should be reading? Thanks for your help! Franamax (talk) 06:57, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

DeleteQueue extension

I am, in fact, working on a system of queued deletion. However, I do wish you would have investigated it a bit further. It is not about "turning AfD into a straight vote", it's about automating the deletion process. The switch for any deletion (other than one in a unanimous AfD with more than X participants) still needs to be flicked by an administrator, after considering the endorsements and objections, and the arguments given on the deletion discussion page. — Werdna • talk 06:07, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Sandbox/Archive2
Please take a look at Wikipedia:Sandbox/Archive2 as your protection of the page didn't seem to work. Thanks. -- Suntag (talk) 19:47, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- Here you wrote "Changed protection level for "Wikipedia:Sandbox/Archive2": this is not the sandbox anymore. [edit=sysop:move=sysop])". The very next edit changed what you posted and used the edit summary "(I'm baaaaaaack ...)". I'm not sure what the point of this page is and the edit summary "(I'm baaaaaaack ...)" seemed odd, so I assumed that the last change to the page was odd as well. Suntag (talk) 19:57, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation. Happy editing! Suntag (talk) 20:02, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Monster energy display.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Monster energy display.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:09, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
About Image:BlueCaper.svg
I uploaded as a refurnishing of my PNG logo, and I don't know any Wikimedia Commons admins, so, could you please tag it for deletion? It does not show on either Commons or 'Pedia. I tried right-clicking the picture and clicking "Show Picture," but it did not show. Since you may be busy, I will contact two other administrators to ensure that the SVG file, not the PNG file, is deleted. Thanks, and bye! -BlueCaper (talk) 12:55, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Damian
You seem to have completely misunderstood. When Jimbo stepped aside he specifically said it should not be taken as either pro or against unbanning. There is no reason it should lead to an automatic unban. If it wasn't for Thatcher, Damian would still be banned. A partial unban is not imposing sanctions. --Apoc2400 (talk) 16:28, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- No, I understand it perfectly. Arbcom had no involvement in the original ban, and it's widely accepted that ordinary admins do not have the authority to demand an arbcom appeal for their own actions (c.f. Durova/!!) And If it wasn't for Thatcher, Damian would still be banned is simply not true - He would still have been blocked, but from that moment his block would not be a ban. Once Jimbo stepped aside, any admin may have unblocked him. --Random832 (contribs) 22:44, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

re: your post on WT:RfArb
I'm surprised they made it five days without people telling them how "useless" they are, with the amount of negativity that was aimed at ArbCom previously. (you're not even the first one, White Cat had you beat earlier today). How about actually, you know, giving them a chance? Not saying if I think their decision was right, but come on, the only remedy that was left after this decision was "Everyking will not interact with or comment about Snowspinner." if that's a sticking point for EK, I really question what EK would do if this was lifted. So, let's mark it closed, and let old, hard feelings die. SirFozzie (talk) 17:45, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- I am extremely disappointed that they refused to even vote on EK's proposals. I do not consider the matter to be closed, and if he does not bring it up on schedule in february, I will. It's a sticking point because, as he said, it means that he is not a user in good standing. Why can't you take him at his word there instead of insinuating that there's some sinister agenda behind it? --Random832 (contribs) 17:46, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Argumentum ad nauseum isn't going to win you or him any more converts to his viewpoint on this, Random. It's going to be drama for drama's sake. EK can deal with the 99.99% of Wikipedia that doesn't have to deal with a three+ year old grudge. He's in good standing as far as I (and apparently the ArbCom) as concerned. SirFozzie (talk) 17:50, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Editnotice
At Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)/Archive_46#Custom_edit_messages, you said, "I've worked out a system for allowing a non-admin to maintain the editnotice without requiring a protected edit request every time and without allowing anyone else to edit it." Apparently that didn't happen; when not logged in, I had no trouble editing User:Dank55/Editnotice, even though User:Dank55/Editnotice.css says "off". Is there a way to stop others from editing User:Dank55/Editnotice and User_talk:Dank55/Editnotice by fiddling with .css or .js files, without protecting the pages? Tra's comments at Wikipedia:VPT#Editnotice may be helpful. (Watchlisting) - Dan Dank55 (send/receive) 03:00, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
