Hi Ramitbhai – I'm very sorry to have disappointed your expectation in me, but it had become impossible for me to compromise my principles. I don't covet adminship at all, so it wasn't a difficult decision – I simply cannot accept misrepresentation and nonsense. However, I cannot tell you how greatly joyous I feel at the enthusiastic, wonderful support you expressed for me. I don't know how hard it will be to understand that your supports means extremely a lot to me. I thank you from my heart, and please let me know if I can ever be assistance or help in anything. Vandalism reporting
Hi,
Saw that you reported vandalism of Mahatma Gandhi on Nichalp's page. Its a good sign that you are trying to do your bit by reporting vandalisms. However, it is possible that the admin you are trying to contact may be offline. For quick actions, its preferable to use WP:AIV (for blocking vandals) and WP:RPP (for requesting page protection). Nathuram Godse
An anon user has removed all references to Godse's caste affiliation (Chitvan Brahmin) and just described him as a Hindu. I dunno whether to let that stand or not. On the one hand, caste labels are medieval and applying them here may be a slur on his caste. On the other hand, being a Brahmin, especially in South India, says a lot about a person (alas) Brahmins are over-represented in the professions, the intelligentsia, etc. What do you think? Should I ask on the India project page? Zora 22:54, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Zora, I did a quick check on some websites including www.nathuramgodse.com. He was definitely a Chitpavan Brahmin and considering the timeline of the incidents, I think it should be mentioned in the article. However I could not find any reference about the second statement regarding attacks on his community... ramit 05:34, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Manali Article
Hi Ramit! (I hope I have got your name right) I am a Himachal enthusiast and in that capacity, I have keen interest on all Himachal related articles. I have been to Manali several times and to most other places in Himachal. I wish to improve the article into a full blown Wiki Quality article. I am planning to visit Manali very soon and when I do that, I will take a few pictures exclusively for this article. So I would request you to keep watching this article. I will write to you if I need any help. Regards...RMehra 04:54, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Vandal
Hi Ramit, not only have many administrators tried reasoning with him, but there is an arbitration committee decision totally against him, and beyond this, there is no recourse in Wikipedia. Twenty archives of the talk:Rajput page bear witness to the pointlessness of engaging with him. Note that my involvement in the affair came late in the day; his main fight was with Bachmann, who had tried ....... to reason with him!! He has in the past single-handedly worn down a dozen good-faith editors. He is a quintessential troll, some 50 of whose accounts have been banned. Note further that my "reverts" are only an undoing of his senseless, pointless vandalising of my edits. Please consider helping to revert his actions, but take my advise and give up all idea of reasoning with him. Regards, ImpuMozhi 15:36, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

- My gaffe in removing the cats on raja sansar chand page. Regarding Hindu website: Since they sell images for profit they cannot be used. If one can find the newspaper which was published 60 years ago and scan that image that would be usable but not the ones that were put here on WP. Tatra 10:28, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- It is wrong to assume they are not selling low res versions. Since they are in the business of selling images they have to provide a small enough image to entice potential buyers. No where it is written on there website that these small images can be used without there license. I read the link you provided. This small image argument is just not correct. Welcome message
Dear Lost! Thank you very much for your welcome message. Actually I have been visiting Wikipedia for over a year now...and I have been making minor edits anonymously. As for the Hindi article, I have been watching the Hindi article for some time. If you see the edit history, most anonymous edits are indeed acts of vandalism (example: "shut up") or of blanking previous bonafide edits (example: section on official status). I have reverted to a previous "sane" version, which I chose carefully and thought was reasonably NPOV. The only reason I signed up this time was because I thought it would be rude to make a revert anonymously. As far as the bonafide edits that have been lost due to the revert...I have already left a message on the talk page conveying that I would gradually restore all those edits. Hope you would understand. AnwarA 06:06, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Lost! Sorry for the confusion on the edit issue. I access Internet from an office library terminal and looks like somebody else who had been previously logged into wikipedia left the "remember me" option checked. I therefor inadvertantly made edits under another name. I am however responsible for the edits to the Hindi page as well as the talk page of the article, which unfortunately got tagged under another user's name. Hope that clarifies... will also leave a message on the other user's talk page. AnwarA 08:19, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi Ramit, I'm glad to hear you received the mail from Scabbers. So did I, which is how I now know who it is. I have no idea who Muhammad Islami is, and I wish he had chosen a different user-name. I certainly would not have picked that name, if I had made a sock. Believe me, I have not created a sock for any purpose, and also I have NOTHING against Rajputs. Pick any Rajput page that I have worked on and read it, tell me if you see hatred for Rajputs there. On the contrary, I read "Annals and antiquities of the Rajputana state" by James Tod and grew to greatly admire the Rajputs, their values and way of life -- I acquired some knowledge of all that, it is important to getting a grip on Indian history! I also have no hatred for Hinduism; believe it or not, I am a devout, practising Hindu whose understanding of Hinduism permits him to keep the occasional Novina. I bet I am a better Hindu than tha Troll, whose religion is nothing more than the hatred of "other" people -- Muslims, Christians, Europeans. Can SS/DPS tell you the difference between the three sects of Vedanta or recite verbatim the Vishnu Sahasranamam? I can. Look at my contribution to Hinduism-related pages: I wrote ENTIRELY the Dakshayani and Arjuna and Alamelu pages and many others also. These three pages are almost 100% mine in content (including what I wrote as an anon). I am telling you all this since you have shown some interest in the matter. Please do not misjudge my actions on Wikipedia. Also, check your e-mail again. Regards, ImpuMozhi 14:33, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Re: trains template
I'm working from the list at Category:Unassessed rail transport articles today. I open about ten articles in separate Firefox tabs and assess each article. After I finish the assessments, I close those tabs and reload the category page by hitting F5. On the two where I removed {{TrainsWikiProject}} from the talk page, if the station info is split out into their own articles, then those would be project-maintained pages, but an article about the city is not. For example, on the article about Madison, Wisconsin, there's a couple paragraphs about rail transportation in the city, mostly discussing the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad; since the Madison article is about the city and not the railroad, the project template is on the railroad article and not the city article. Right now I'm going through the various YEAR in rail transport pages. Slambo (Speak) 17:35, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi, your welcome means a lot to me so thanks. With regards to the Khalistan page there are anons and one new wiki member deleting cited sources, I am protecting the cited scholarly/academic sources. Hi lost, my point is this, a fundamental point of a advanced civilization, you cannot have just anyone removing cited source (third party at that). As a scientist doesn't matter how much I known- I have to provide prove and cited sources to backup my arguments. I don't CARE whether he's lived in Punjab for a 1000 years or how patriotic he is, all I care about is the truth. You cannot removed cited third party sources- it is completely unethical. If you feel strongly against a cited sources produce your own cited (neutral third party sources) to challenge them and then the viewer can come to their own conclusion. Lost, I appreciate your commitment to wikepedia. If people come wikipedia, then they must come unbiased and leave their patriotism at the door of Wikipedia and bring with them neutral third part sources to challenge what they believe to false because of logic and evidence NOT because they don't like what they are reading. If we took that mindset then humanity would still be back in the stone age. If we don't protect Wikipedia from these forces wikipedia will become useless and a waste of time.
Faithfully your – Thomas

Khalistan Article
Hi Lost. I appreciate your concern and I wish to assure you that I am well aware of the wikipedia 3RR policy. However, I am deeply disturbed by the state of the article Khalistan. If you have a look at the edits I have done, you would realise that I have been attempting to clean up the article of statements that do not just amount to a higly biased POV, but are tantamount to treason if an Indian were responsible for these. In general, and while this may not be of concern to the wikipedia community, I am extremely frustrated by Indians engaging in India bashing. You may have noticed most of my earlier edits were mainly for reverting vandalism on other India related pages.
As for my friend Qiuit's edits, I wish to say that if he is an Eglishman as he claims, then he in any case has no understanding of what the people of Punjab, including in particular Sikhs, went through. As for scholarly/academic articles, I have come through a thousand articles that malign the role of Indian government and the Indian armed forces, and in the process completely ignoring the atrocities that the terrorists committed in Punjab. I have also come across an equal number so called scholarly articles which advocate that the massacre of Sikhs in Delhi and of Muslims in Gujarat was totally justified. I have also come across articles by the "western" scholars ofcourse, that claim that the Jalianwala Bagh massacre was an act of Heroism and a similar Englishman had earlier vandalized the Shaheed Udham Singh article and called him a terrorist.
I have spent more than 30 years in Punjab, and I have enough material to fill this article with real NPOV stuff, unless some users with absolutely no knowledge of the subject start removing these edits as vandalism. Hope you would understand.
Many thanks for your attention. AnwarA 19:15, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

At the very least use wikipedia code of ethics and procedure before making changes. One anon has change article because he think it's TO BIG. What kind of unlogical reason is that to removed cited third party sources. Thomas

Look if AnwarA wants to make changes i'm fine with that, he seems a good guy, but it must be throught wikipedia rules and codes of ethics.
