Signing articles
[edit]Hi on talk pages when you have written if you type four tildes, (this is one of them in between the arrows) --> ~ <-- then it will sign your name and date for you saving you to type it out, this is also the correct way to sign the article, Just a tip for your future posts any more help then feel free to ask :) Bankhallbretherton (talk) 20:06, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
twitter.com/jontycampbell (talk) 02:02, 29 April 2010 (UTC) OK but why have I got a minus for my last subedit?
hey mate what do you mean? Bankhallbretherton (talk) 07:56, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Well I got a -81 for something that I felt was a good contrib on 'the University of Central Lancashire' entry, it would seem. :-( twitter.com/jontycampbell 02:12, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
That is the number of characters changed in the article, which means your edit changed the article by 81 fewer characters. My guess is you summarized something.Coffeepusher (talk) 22:02, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Oh! Thank goodness for that! I thought it was an approval/disapproval score! Yes, I tightened the article by 81 characters, as a Sub-editor in my spare time, I can't stand flabby writing, fluff,'gee-whizz' brochure-speak, or waffle.

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia! I am glad to see you are interested in discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Is the glass half empty or half full? are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. Your recent edits
[edit]Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 18:25, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
