New Sources
[edit]Update this with any new sources that you find! A local high school news outlet just did an interview with her. Are we allowed to cite youtube videos though? Chapman News: Lily ZhangRacoon42 (talk) 20:34, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
How to Cite the same Source Twice
[edit]Hey guys, so if you add any more information to the article, double check to see if your source has already been used. If it has, follow these procedures:
- Find the first time the source was used
- Take its <ref> tag and give it a name attribute, so it looks like this: <ref name="london 2012">
- Find your subsequent use(s) of that source
- Add this tag: <ref name="london 2012" /> (make sure that that's the only reference there, you don't need the rest of the citation information)

Topic
[edit]Currently Lily Zhang's article is nothing but a stub listing her as a table tennis player that competed at the 2012 Olympics. As one of the youngest athletes to compete for the US in the Olympics (qualified when she was only 15) and as an athlete who has had a good deal of international success, she represents a new generation of American born table tennis players in the USA who are competing more and more at an international level. As one of the leaders of this movement, along with her fellow 2012 Olympians, it our belief she warrants a more thorough, content filled page on Wikipedia.

I'm going to try to find a little more information about Lily's friendships with some of her teammates, and particularly Anna Tikhomirova. It might be hard to find them, but since she's always part of a team, it could be worthwhile to include something about them. Briann23 (talk) 02:37, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
I like the proposed organization of the article - it looks like you guys have put a lot of thought into laying it out. Jws325 (talk) 05:42, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Other Article Elements
[edit]Finding usable pictures may be an issue but luckily, as we are adding to a stub, the box to the right has already been constructed for us so we may just add relevant data to it (I.E. Winner of Qatar Peace and Sport Cup).
- Good point about the picture - if you take it from the official USA Olympic team site, try to find out if it is copyrighted or where you can get permission to use it. LeshedInstructor (talk) 17:47, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Situating the Article
[edit]This article is part of the Table Tennis stubs wiki project and can link to generally to other table tennis articles and more specifically to other USA team members, such as Ariel Hsing and Erica Wu, who both have their own Wikipedia articles.
- Good. See that you can make the Wikipedia editors involved in the Table Tennis WikiProject interested in helping you out. LeshedInstructor (talk) 17:47, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
This makes sense, good job finding such a relevant WikiProject. Jws325 (talk) 05:44, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Instructor's Feedback
[edit]This is a very good direction to pursue, and you have a good potential to end with an interesting and extensive article that will last. I have some specific comments in the various sections above. Remember that everything you discuss in what needs to go into the article, including responses to class assignments, should not appear on the article page but on the talk page. LeshedInstructor (talk) 17:47, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
Observer's Feedback
[edit]I think this will be a really great topic! Since you're doing an Olympic Athlete, there are likely to be a lot of biased sources, so please make sure that you focus on facts and not biased opinions. It would be fascinating to know her successes throughout her career and the various competitions she's won. I'm sure there will be some great pictures - but make sure you site them correctly! Good Luck! Tpn22 (talk) 17:27, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
You guys did a great job. Your topic has a high degree of relevance, and you've done a great job setting up an outline for the article. With proper execution, this could be a fantastic Wikipedia article. Jws325 (talk) 05:48, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
