Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Firing Line: Cardiff Castle Museum of the Welsh Soldier, and I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Firing Line Curator", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or accounts that are shared. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our Conflict of interest guideline and Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. --Drm310 (talk) 16:12, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Firing Line Curator. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Firing Line: Cardiff Castle Museum of the Welsh Soldier, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 10:44, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
Your username
[edit]Your username appears to violate our policy on usernames because it does not relate to an individual person but belongs to a role in an organisation, which could be held by different people at different times.
Ordinarily we would block this account, especially as you've been making edits where you clearly have a conflict of interest. However, before doing so I wanted to ask if you would consider requesting a new username that complies with the policy by using this form?
If you don't do this fairly shortly (essentially as your next editing action), your account is very likely to be blocked from editing. Even if you do request a new username, you must take notice of the information posted above editing where you have a conflict of interest; a brief examination of your edits so far seems to show that they are non-encyclopaedic and intended to promote your organisation.
