ikman.lk URL http://ikman.lk Slogan Free Classifieds in Sri Lanka Commercial? Yes Type of site Classifieds Registration none Available language(s) Sinhala, Tamil, English Launched June 01, 2012 Current status Active

ikman.lk is a classified advertisements website operating in Sri Lanka.

Available in English, Sinhala and Tamil languages, the ikman website hosts free user-generated classified advertisements, sorted by various categories. The name "ikman" comes from the Sinhala term "ඉක්මන්" meaning "fast", or "quick"[1].

Launched in June 2012, ikman.lk gained prominence due to it's large selection of second-hand items, becoming the 15th most visited website in Sri Lanka within 3 months of launch[2]. Being one of the first classified websites in the country to offer content in native Sinhala and Tamil languages, it received positive recognition from the Sri Lankan media [3][4][5][6].

An official launch event held in Colombo during October 2012[7] was followed by media coverage of the site, with ikman.lk being featured prominently on local TV/radio advertisements[8] in the country. Contents Geographic scope

ikman.lk operates solely within Sri Lanka, with a target audience of approximately 2 million internet users (as of January 2013)[9] . Usage Statistics

According to statistics released by ikman.lk, the best-selling categories (in terms of online transactions) on the site are vehicles, electronics and property[10] .

Ads for second hand cars alone account for nearly 20% of all ads posted, with the cities of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy and Kurunegala leading the way in the online trading of used cars and vehicles. Colombo serves as the primary trading hub for cars with an estimated trading value of 58 million Sri Lankan Rupees[10].

The article as written is full of promotional hype. I have given you a starting place with amended text. The citations are there to give reliability to statements. The question is whether the service is Notable. Saying that there is media interest does not deal with the criteria. It is the content of that. If someone sends out press releases that are parroted without comment by the media then the media reports are irrelevant. The Celon Today article seems to have made some independent comment. That is a reliable source. You can look at the others to see if they have something useful to say about this service. Do not quote verbatim from the articles, use them as a source and put it in your own words. Cut out the hype or promotional statements. I will be declining the article and you may resubmit.
