about the civil war comic listing

[edit]

hey sup! thanks for stopping by my page. as for the civil war comic book listing, yes i agree, the comic book listings should be arranged in their chronological order depending on the succession of the series of events. im on for it! the article needs major revamp after the end of the miniseries ;] †Bloodpack† 14:01, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Horridus

[edit]

Ok. I have removed the speedy deletion tag for now. However, I suggest you take a look at our guidelines about articles concerning fictional characters. I'm not convinced that Wikipedia is the right place for this kind of content. Note also that you copied the content from somewhere else on the web which means that you might be violating copyright policies. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson 03:42, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rule number one: Don't panic. No one's going to hunt you down for violating copyright policies and I'm not here to sanctimoniously say that you're doing everything wrong. My concerns are genuine though: it's not acceptable to copy and paste on Wikipedia material that may be copyright by the owner of the webpage you took it from. It's also not so good practice although not a crime to create pages on marginal comic book characters. So a better solution is to first make sure that whatever you put up is more or less in your own words and second make sure that it makes sense to create this article rather than expand another article about the comic book itself. For any guidance, you can ask just about anybody: some administrator, someone at the comics wikiproject, me or someone random by posting a question on this page with {{helpme}}. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson 04:47, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry, good faith mistakes will never be held against you. Happy editing, Pascal.Tesson 14:54, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When you don't provide an edit summary, you tend to look like a vandal

[edit]

I have noticed you commonly don't enter an edit summary. This causes me problems. When I patrol for vandalism, I use the summary to make a preliminary decision on whether or not the post is a vandal edit or not. If the summary is present (or at least a section header, the part inside the /* */), I commonly decide the edit is legit and move on.

However, if no edit summary is available, I typically resort to loading the diff for the edit. This takes time. For that reason, if your edits are all valid, I ask that you provide edit summaries. For more on how to enter an edit summary, please read Help:Edit summary.

Incidentally, it is not just me that appreciate having edit summaries. When you omit your summary, you may be telling various bots that you are vandalizing pages. For this reason, please consider providing that summary. It is very important.

The edit summary appears in black italics in the following places: * Use the enhanced watchlist to see all recent changes in the watched pages, not just the last change in each page.

about the horridus article

[edit]

hi! sorry for this delayed response, i am basically offline every weekends. as to your concern regarding the horridus article, dont worry. i also had the same dilemma before when i copy/pasted from a source website the article about medical transcription, but i learned my mistake =) the technique here is, its ok to use an existing source (website) to create an article of yours, but the thing is, you need to translate its contents into your own or perhaps, you can rephrase the contents in your own words. wikipedia is strict about copyright policy because wikipedia is running only for free and voluntarily. if a company sues wikipedia for copyright violation, then poor jimbo would be forced to shut this down. btw, im using a restricted internet site, so right now i cant browse the source site youve given where you based your article content. but what i noticed is that you also placed "vital stats" on your article. its a clear cue that the source is copy/pasted. i suggest you remove it. the basic stats (based on wikipedia comic style) is already given through the superhero box. the rest info should be incorporated in the character bio. if you want patterns to create a comic article, heres the links you can use:

well, not much but i hope it helps, if you have any further questions, please dont hesitate to drop me a note =) happy wikiying! †Bloodpack† 14:29, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

well, yes i guess so, its really not that notable to know whats the height or weight of a character. but most important is who is the creator of the character, when it was created, publisher, what comicbook issue, character bio, etc. also as per comic naming convention, comicbook titles should be italicized =) (as per the character appearance section) †Bloodpack† 17:28, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
