Image tagging for Image:PhysicsPlotScreenshiot.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:PhysicsPlotScreenshiot.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 04:10, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Additional source information has been added. It looks like I made a typo in the file name... the "i" shouldn't be there. RSRScrooge 17:03, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have replaced this image with a .png version. The new image is Image:PhysicsPlotScreenshot.png. RSRScrooge 16:01, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:IClogo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:IClogo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 07:09, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The image that you tagged is an unneeded duplicate and should be deleted. As I explained on the image’s talk page, I uploaded it as a replacement to an image that I had uploaded previously which I thought was corrupted. However, it turned out that the original image wasn’t corrupted; I guess there was a server glitch or something. RSRScrooge 17:51, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your vandalism to the Chair article

[edit]

Please do not add unhelpful and non-constructive information to Wikipedia, as you did to Chair. Your edits could be considered vandalism, and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Staretsen 18:24, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is no way that any rational person could construe my edit as vandalism. I removed a repeating string of “THIS IS A GAY TURD” which was inserted by the user Asdfgh, who has since been indefinitely blocked. Your reversion of my edit not only undid a legitimate subsequent edit made by another user, but also reinserted the repeating string of “THIS IS A GAY TURD”. I should also point out that your recent edit to Black History Month appears to be vandalism, which is also a page that has been vandalized by Asdfgh recently. This makes me wonder if you are working in cahoots with Asdfgh, or if he has hijacked your account. RSRScrooge (Talk) 21:00, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I must confess it was all just a stupid whim on my part. Please forgive me. Staretsen 21:01, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello RSRScrooge, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:SigmaXi.JPG) was found at the following location: User:RSRScrooge. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 09:31, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for undoing the vandalism to this article. A barnstar to you! Bearian 19:08, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any way that La Salle Institute can be semi=protected from IP addresses? Bearian 23:46, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have made a request for semi-protection on Requests for page protection. RSRScrooge (Talk) 14:13, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:JamboToday93.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:JamboToday93.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:36, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:AJP July2006.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AJP July2006.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 18:50, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Steven Van Slyke

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Steven Van Slyke, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No real assertion of notability, other than winning an industrial award.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Oli Filth(talk|contribs) 23:40, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:JamboToday93.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Jujutacular T · C 20:09, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies for the above speedy deletion request, I see now it is a valid fair use for non-free content. An admin has declined the request. Jujutacular T · C 04:22, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:PhysicsPlotScreenshot.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:PhysicsPlotScreenshot.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 23:41, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IEEE technical societies

[edit]

If you are a member of one or more of the IEEE technical societies, you may wish to identify yourself as such on Wikipedia. I’ve created Wikipedian categories for each of the 38 IEEE technical societies. The new Template:User IEEE member creates a userbox identifying the society and your membership grade and includes your user page in the relevant Wikipedian category. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a note. Yours aye,  Buaidh  19:58, 11 December 2013 (UTC) — IEEE Life Member[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Nomination of Physics Plot for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Physics Plot is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Physics Plot until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 19:18, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
