Welcome

[edit]

Hello, RKruh, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you have edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! MuffledThud (talk) 11:52, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

The article MyBuilder has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 12:03, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How does verification work?

[edit]

{{helpme}} My article on MyBuilder was just speedily deleted. How can I have the content reviewed by an editor to be reposted? All information is completely factual, and can be verified, im just not sure why it was deleted :( Many thanks!

You can request that that your article be userfied, which will copy the content to a subpage in your userspace. Then you can ask for feedback on it. To do this, go to Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion and make sure to note in your request that you want the article userfied. Once that is done, you can make a request for comments of your page at Wikipedia:Requests for feedback.
Keep in mind that having factual and verified information is not always enough. MyBuilder was deleted because it was considered not notable enough to be included in Wikipedia. Please read the notability guidelines at Wikipedia:Notability. To show notability, the subject has to have significant coverage in reliable, published sources. You'll need to have sources to demonstrate notability in order to make the article fit for inclusion in Wikipedia.
Please let me know if there are any more questions. Thanks! --Mysdaao talk 13:19, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I hadn't noticed the draft page you created at User:RKruh/MyBuilder. If that page has the same content as the deleted article, then there is no need to request an undeletion and userfication because you already have the original page in your userspace. In this case, you just have to request comments at Wikipedia:Requests for feedback with a link to User:RKruh/MyBuilder. My previous comments about notability still apply because the draft as it is now does not have sources that demonstrate its notability. Reliable sources will have to be found before it will be able to be included in Wikipedia. --Mysdaao talk 13:49, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The article has now been userfied to User:RKruh/MyBuilder 2. Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 14:43, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request Article Review

[edit]

{{helpme}} I have just edited the MyBuilder article (26 Feb) to include references. Can I please have it reviewed by an editor? Many thanks for your input.

  • Well... you have the 2008 BBC article, referencing a previous incarnation of the website, that would probably save the article from *speedy* deletion if it was reposted. I still think it would likely be nominated for deletion at WP:AFD, though. The other cited sources really don't say anything about the company except "this is a Web 2.0 start-up that's won some funding." I still doubt that it meets the notability requirements of WP:WEB. {{helpme}} Hi, I have just added an article on Heather Brandon. A notification was posted about notability prior to my adding the references. Can you please let me know if the notification can now be removed? If you feel it is not quality can I request that the article be deleted? Thanks very much!
