The word etymology information you added to Matrix is certainly interesting, but unfortunately it does not belong on a disambiguation page. The disambiguation page links to Wiktionary, which would be a more appropriate place for the information. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions about disambiguation pages. -- Natalya 15:45, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Possible typos?
[edit]In reference to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plane_stress http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plane_strain
Are you sure "i.e the normal stress σ33 and the shear stresses σ12 and σ23 (if the thickness is the 3-direction)" shouldnt read "i.e the normal stress σ33 and the shear stresses σ13 and σ23 (if the thickness is the 3-direction)"?
Likewise, "i.e the normal strain ε33 and the shear strains ε12 and ε23 (if the length is the 3-direction)" -> "i.e the normal strain ε33 and the shear strains ε13 and ε23 (if the length is the 3-direction)"?

Of course. Go ahead and change it.RDT2 12:47, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Symmetry of Stress Tensor
[edit]Could you please add a good reference for the possibility of a non symmetric stress tensor in the Stress_(physics) article? As you are probably aware there are a huge amount of sources giving "proofs" that the stress tensor is always symmetric, no matter what the situation. These range from explicit assumptions of zero moments, to nonsense, to outright browbeating. Sometimes by otherwise quite reputable sources. A good reference to the contrary would really make the Wikipedia article an authoritative source.

I've added a reference to Fung in the 'body moments' link.RDT2 11:30, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for your correction-work on the Article above.
Armor Backing
[edit]RDT2 please take a look at the discussion page on the Ballistic vest. Perhaps I could have your input... Bodyarmor (talk) 18:03, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
What's the difference between this and moment of inertia? Any reason why the two shouldn't be merged/redirected?Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 06:49, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello RDT2! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 329 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Fraser Speirs - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Jim Mullen - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
