Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, RDSJ, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as User:RDSJ/sandbox, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Randykitty (talk) 14:09, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:RDSJ/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. [edit]
There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Randykitty (talk) 14:10, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

This is an open access academic journal. I am not sure why this is considered advertising as we do not have paid subscriptions. Please provide more assistance to your reasoning for spam and block and guidance on how to unblock this request. May I request for additional assistance on unblocking my page? I'll be happy to provide additional information

Decline reason:

The fact that this is an open access journal without paid subscriptions is irrelevant. Your username must not be the name of any publication (or any business, organization, etc). Please try again using {{unblock-un}}. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 11:40, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • You don't have to be selling something in order to be promoting it. The page you edited is not for listing every such journal in existence(especially with an external link), but only those that merit a Wikipedia article. Not every subject does, even within the same field. You will need to choose a new username that indicates you as an individual user(it doesn't need to be your real name, it can be a nickname, alias, etc.). You will also need to comply with WP:COI and WP:PAID, and to agree to not directly edit about your journal, telling us what it is you want to edit about instead. 331dot (talk) 11:32, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

USERNAME - I choose RDSJ as a user name was to provide credibility to myself. And to reflect that the edits I provided to Wikipedia pages came from an expert in the field or industry rather than just anyone with no knowledge of the topic. I don't necessary want to promote a page, but rather contribute to the Disability Studies field in general. The first page I created, was to provide information Wikipedia was missing, and was just the first step. Is it possible to change my user name to ED0001 instead?

Accept reason:

Hello. The proposed username looks acceptable to me. Can you describe in more detail what kind of edits you plan on making, with reference to at least one specific change and one substantive edit you would make? All the best, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 02:15, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't

[edit]

You are not permitted to blank declines for current blocks, as you did with Anthony Bradbury's decline, above. Additionally, you added three unblock requests (and appear to have failed to add two more) and four separate requests for help. That's abusive. No more than one open unblock request at a time, please, and no more than one "help me" request. You should use one or the other, not both. --Yamla (talk) 19:19, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'll add that while the proposed username of "ED0001" seems acceptable, you have not addressed any of the other issues raised by Anthony Bradbury. Huon (talk) 19:23, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Huon (talk)I apologize, but I am new to this, and this system and way of communication is difficult and discouraging to use. I thought the "help block" were needed as a headline to indicate the purpose of your update. Also, there are many different users I am addressing, should I be responding to one person in general or every admin that response. Your help will be greatly appreciated, as I get more and more confused with each communication message I post.

You are welcome to make a new unblock request. Another admin will then come along and review it. You'll need to pick a new username (you seem to like "ED0001" which looks reasonable to me as well as Huon). You'll also need to agree not to write about the open access academic journal and instead, tell us what you'd write about instead. Why? This is explained in WP:COI, WP:PAID, and WP:PROMO. We aren't explicitly telling you what's in those policies because it's better if you just read them yourself. If you have specific (not general) questions, though, feel free to ask. It looks like several of us are watching your page and will be happy to answer anything not covered in the above policies. --Yamla (talk) 21:03, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Another admin will then come along and review it." - Yamla Thank you for the addition information on the multiple admins, as I thought I needed to address each of the six admin response and request.

"You'll need to pick a new username (you seem to like "ED0001" - I've posted a request this morning for the user name change and reasoning to Anthony. Hopefully I will be able to receive a response from an admin.

Having already made a determination on this block it is not appropriate for me to make another; but I would agree with Yamla that the new username appears acceptable. Purely for information, you might like to note that there is absolutely no need for an editor here to demonstrate their own credibility or expertise. Articles are judged purely on their own merits and the merits of their associated sources and references, not on the expertise of their authors. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 11:18, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
