A tag has been placed on File:Babcockranch.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. That doesn't appear to be the case. Especially since at least one of the images is computer generated. Eeekster (talk) 00:21, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Mtn House Aerials 2501.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mtn House Aerials 2501.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 19:55, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Manual of Style

[edit]

There is a manual of style that covers how to write articles. This includes punctuation, spacing, capitalization, linking and many other things. While your contributions are appreciated, the amount of cleanup that you leave behind is extensive. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:46, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not the best teacher, but I can help a bit. This wiki is an encyclopedia so article content and format should should reflect that. In English grammar, a comma follows a word and it in turn is followed by a space. Capital letters are not used in the middle of sentences with the main exception being proper names. If something reads like an sales pitch, it is either an advertisement or spam and needs to be rewritten. In articles about the US, use US terminology, so avoid terms like 'new town' which is generally a British term with very specific meaning. Also you need to cite the sources for your information so that it does not appear to be original research. Templates like {{cite web}}, {{cite news}} or {{cite press release}} can be used to list the data needed and format the information for display. Also remember that redundant information should be avoided. So, saying that a city will provide fire protection, or schools is not needed since that is an understood function of cities. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:58, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vegaswikianyou right thanks i will go back and do that from now on im still new here and still learning. (Quayhands (talk) 20:01, 16 March 2010 (UTC)).[reply]

On a different topic. I was in the Alameda, California article and noticed you change the demographic data. By convention all these articles use the 2000 census data since it is official and consistent across the entire US. So please don't replace those numbers. Coyote Springs, Nevada

[edit]

This is not a future megacity since it will not even come close to having 10,000,000 residents. Also please add edit comments when you make changes. Finally you need to add references to support your material. Use one of the cite templates like {{cite web}} or {{cite press release}} or {{cite news}} in reference tags. Vegaswikian (talk) 23:28, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for trying to add a reference. However the reference should support the facts. There was nothing in the last reference to support anything about jobs anything else I tried to find. Vegaswikian (talk) 05:23, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some issues

[edit]

Hi, Quayhands. I appreciate your efforts working on articles about planned communities. However, there are a couple of issues that I need to address.

I see that you are not using edit summaries when editing articles. Please do so. (See WP:FIES for info). Summaries help other editors make note of the exact changes you are making to articles. Sometimes it is difficult for all of us to remember to add an edit summary -- especially when in the habit of not doing it. To make it easier, you should check the box labeled Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary in the preferences of your account.

You should not remove text which has been referenced without providing a good reason for doing so. I have found it necessary to revert a number of your edits because of this. And when you do add information, please cite the source for it using the reference tags (making certain the source is a reliable independent secondary source). Information on the websites of the development company is not an independent source and should only be used the limited circumstances when we allow primary sources.

I notice above in your reply to Vegaswikian about Coyote Springs that you need the article to be shorter. I am not certain why you want that -- the purpose of Wikipedia is to expand articles. Notice that most city articles are quite large. Although it isn't necessary to add large quantities of trivia simply for the sake of expanding an article. However, all sourced information should remain. If details about it change over time, the older information can be altered or expanded to reflect the changes, but it should not simply be deleted without sufficient reason.

If you have any questions about any of this, please feel free to ask me. Good luck with your editing. CactusWriter | needles 04:08, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

CactusWriter how do u do edit summaries (Quayhands (talk) 15:40, 19 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]
When you are in editing mode, there is a long box above the Save page button. It is labeled "Edit summary (Briefly describe the changes you have made)". Write your edit summary in this box. Then after you press save, the summary will appear in the editing history. (For example, for this edit, I am writing "reply about edit summary".) CactusWriter | needles 16:23, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
CactusWriter thank you i found it now every time edit a page i need to do a edit summary and tell why i made the changes like for example the coyote springs page i said was to long i tell why it to long and why i made the chages is that how it works?(Quayhands (talk) 20:57, 19 April 2010 (UTC)). (Quayhands (talk) 20:57, 19 April 2010 (UTC)).[reply]
Great, I'm glad you found it. Yes, use it to write a very brief note about any changes. Editors often use shorthand in their summaries for many common words (such as , rv for revert or del for delete). There is a list of abbreviations at Wikipedia:Edit summary legend. Check out the history page on articles and you will see the way in which other editors use the summary.
As far as longer explanations (for example, why you think an article is too long), than you can first start a discussion on the article talk page. This allows more room for you to explain. Or if someone reverts your edits, than it is necessary to start a discuss on the talk page before re-adding information. This procedure is known as Bold, Revert, Discuss and is a method for obtaining a consensus opinion. This is what needs to happen at the Coyote Springs, Nevada article. There have been reversions now by a few editors -- some with questions in the edit summaries. So before making any further changes, it is required that you atart a discussion on the talk page. Regards. CactusWriter | needles 21:29, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[User:CactusWriter i didnt make any changes i even try talk about changes i want to make to on the article talk page and no one ask talk to me can you work with me(Quayhands (talk) 15:54, 20 April 2010 (UTC)).[reply]

I replied to you yesterday at Talk:Coyote Springs, Nevada -- asking you to elaborate the changes you wish. (I know that it can be frustrating waiting for responses, but that is the necessity of a collaborative project like Wikipedia. Other users edit at different times and varying days. Which is okay because there is no deadline). CactusWriter | needles 19:02, 20 April 2010 (UTC
In response to your talk page statement, please read what the other editors have said there. None of the information can be added if you are sourcing it to "...some of people over coyote springs development and... what they told me." Read the guideline at Original Research. Conversations with people is original research and is not permitted in Wikipedia. Please only add text which you can cite to a specific reliable source and you must include the source.
