[edit]

You've gone on a mass redirecting spree, both unilaterally deleting practically every regional railway station and creating redirects where there should be redlinks. There is a long-standing consensus that these articles are notable, as there's abundant sources: hell, to show how arbitrary this was, a bunch of the articles you randomly decided to redirect were buildings on the Register of the National Estate. In any case, if you want to change that longstanding precedent, please go and actually get a consensus, instead of making a complete bloody mess. If you a pull a stunt like this again, you can expect to be blocked. Rebecca (talk) 01:13, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've just realised the sheer extent of the mess you've created - you've redirected every single railway-related redlink in the entire state, including entire suburban lines. This is an incredibly controversial thing to do without so much as a word beforehand, and it's going to take me the rest of the morning to clean up. As such, I've blocked you for 24 hours as a warning not to do something like this again. Rebecca (talk) 01:26, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at what I have actually done you stupid bloody idiot you will realise that I have added rail station related info on the town or city pages on most of the stations I have redirected to. Go ahead and revert it you bloody self righteous idiot. I don't see any reason why rail station info can not be put on a town's page with a redirect to it. At least I am adding constructive info. Take a look at Bowning, New South Wales, Towrang, New South Wales‎, Breadalbane, New South Wales‎, Moree, New South Wales‎ etc etc. This is has been a NSW convention, what are you a bloody Victorian or something? I object to my sanctimonoius blocking and am going to take this further.Quaidy (talk) 10:27, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You made somewhere in the vicinity of a hundred redirects which you knew to both be controversial and against longstanding precedent, causing a huge mess took ages to clean up. If you want to get a consensus to not have articles on these topics, as we already have in other states, then get it. Trying to make an exception for NSW by force is just disrupting the project. Rebecca (talk) 10:56, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I redirected blank, let me repeat, blank, pages to other pages with info on them. Did I remove anyones work? No. I'm not saying that these stations should not have their own stand alone articles, it is just that there is not enough information on any of them that anyone but me has contributed to make a stand alone article worthwhile. Until such time arises, it seems much more logical to have a redirect to the town page with station information on that page. You have gone and blocked me for something that only you and I are disagreeing on, some admin you are. By the look of your talk page, you have a history of this. I'm thinking of leaving anyway becasue I don't appear to have a personality disorder large enough to put up with this sort of crap.Quaidy (talk) 11:04, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

This block is completely unjustified- I have added rail station related info in good faith to varoius NSW town pages and redirected uncreated rail station links to the town pages, because at this stage there doesn't seen to be enough info to create stand alone railway station pages for many minor railway stations in NSW, especially those that have been closed, and no-one else seems interested in creating any of these pages at this stage. This block seems a little vindictive from someone who has made no effort to contribute info to these topics.

Decline reason:

Thanks for uploading Image:Museum trackplan.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:02, 6 May 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Invitation to Wikipedia meetup in London

[edit]
Wikimedia UK logo
Wikimedia UK logo

Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008

Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map

More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please forgive the slightly impersonal mass-invite!

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Orphaned non-free image File:Punchbowl Bus logo.gif

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Punchbowl Bus logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Quaidy! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 49 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

London Wikimedia Fundraiser

[edit]

Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.

Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 23:46, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thank you, for uploading this file.

However, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure all media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed it would be appreciated if you were able to confirm some details,

If it's your own work, please include {{own}}, amend the {{information}} added by a third party, and change the license to an appropriate "self" variant. You can also add |claimed=yes to the {{media by uploader}} tag if it is present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

If it's not your own work please provide as much sourcing/authorship information as you are able to.

This will assist those reviewing the many many "free" images on commons that have not yet been transfered to Commons. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:10, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
