Ball live on the PAT in High School?

[edit]

Greetings! I just saw your edit in the article on Comparison of Canadian and American football, and I was curious: which states allow the defense to return a PAT, and do those states play Federation rules? (My guess is that the states that allow it are Texas and Louisiana, since they effectively play college rules.) It's beyond the scope of the article, but I was curious, so please reply on my talk page. Thank you! --C.Fred 00:42, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alabama allows it? I thought they played Federation, and I didn't think that was a rule that could be experimented with. I'll have to ask in our spring meetings, in case anybody has friends or calls across the border in Alabama. —C.Fred (talk) 16:45, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Bighorn-lg.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bighorn-lg.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:05, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Darryl W. Perry, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.dwp2016.org/Bio.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Speedy deletion of Darryl W. Perry

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Darryl W. Perry requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 09:14, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 09:25, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Darryl W. Perry

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Darryl W. Perry, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

- Realkyhick (Talk to me) 09:30, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Thank you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 09:30, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A couple of issues arise here. First, it's inappropriate to author Wikipedia articles about yourself or someone close to you: this COI policy applies. Second, articles need to comply with Wikpedia's notability and verifiability requirements, and be backed with reliable sources. Once an article complies with these requirements, it may be included in the encyclopedia. All the best, --ROGER DAVIES talk 09:34, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In addition, WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS is not a valid reason for justifying an article's existence. In your case, you have run for one office and finished eighth behind Langford, Cooper, William Bell and a slew of other candidates I can't even remember (I live in metro Birmingham, by the way). That's the closest you get to being notable as far as Wikipedia is concerned. The bigger problem is that you are essentially promoting yourself, which is simply not allowed, period. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 09:43, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copied here from deleted talk page for completeness. --ROGER DAVIES talk 10:06, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am the owner of the website being referenced - I do not have a copyright on my website, therefore, it should be released into the public domain.

In that case, you are violating Wikipedia policies for advertising and promotion as well as conflict of interest. Wither way, your article will be deleted.

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Speedy deletion of Alabama Liberty Alliance

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Alabama Liberty Alliance requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. скоморохъ 09:27, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Write-in/meta/color, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Template:Write-in/meta/color|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. llamadog903 (talk) 17:42, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
