Orphaned non-free image (Image:DVD Deadwood3.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:DVD Deadwood3.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:03, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Sopranos LOE
[edit]I find it interesting that some of these issues of objection/opposition never came up during the PR. The one-sentence paragraph thing is minor (it ended up improving the list), but the fair use image thing is major (uh-oh). —Cliff smith 04:52, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- An interesting turn of events. I hope that the fair use image issue resolves itself easily and painlessly - while removal of the images isn't exactly difficult, it'll leave the presentation a little bare to say the least. While I wasn't particuarly for the expansion of the summaries initially it has definetly been an improvement. Qjuad 12:40, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Could you suggest a description?
[edit]Somebody already told me that my description wasn't good enough, so I tried changing it. Now you told me that it isn't neutral language. I don't know what that means, so could you please suggest something for me to put there. I didn't think that this had to be so complicated. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sentinelrv (talk • contribs) 00:15, 17 December 2006 (UTC).
- While I'm not entirely sure anymore external links are required as it is (not that I am implying the current selection are superior; there's just already quite a few fansites listed) I would recommend a basic, short description - its a HL2 fansite, presumably has interviews and mods. "Half-Life 2 fansite with news and interviews" for instance. I'd be happy to let that remain without revert, but don't be suprised if another editor objects in some small manner. It is, afterall, a featured article and consequently gets alot of attention and scrutinization when it comes to even the smallest edits - particuarly adding fansite links, as the links section can get ludicrously long. Hence the difficulty in editting. Qjuad 00:25, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- Alright, I guess I'll try something simple like that instead. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sentinelrv (talk • contribs) 00:33, 17 December 2006 (UTC).

WP:Films Welcome
[edit]Hey, welcome to the Films WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of films and film characters. If you haven't already, please add {{User WikiProject Films}} to your user page.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Most of our important discussions about the project itself and its related articles take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has a monthly newsletter. The newsletter for January has been published. February's issue is currently in production; it will be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There is a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Want to jump right into editing? The style guidelines show things you should include.
- Want to assist in some current backlogs within the project? Visit the Film Tasks template to see how you can help.
- Want to know how good our articles are? Our assessment department has rated the quality of every film article in Wikipedia. Check it out!
- Want to collaborate on articles? The Cinema Collaboration of the Week picks an article every week to work on together.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Nehrams2020 17:14, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Music on The Sopranos
[edit]I'm glad that you think highly of the article. I guess I'm not experienced enough to know if it could be a featured list. Would it even qualify as a list, since there's other non-list stuff in the article? Anyway, you're definitely right that this could use the help of some other editors; aside from filling in a lot of the song titles, I wrote most of the article myself. Do you know an easy way to bring the article to the attention of potentially interested editors? That would be really helpful in improving the article beyond what I've been able to do with it. I put a link in the Sopranos template, but aside from that I don't know how to give the article further exposure. Thanks for your help. Thebogusman 23:28, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Battle of MArston Moor: rewrite
[edit]Pardon me, but why did you consider that the article required rewriting ? You have indeed added some valuable and useful information but there was no need to delete any of the previous content, in particular, quotes from primary sources. You have removed from the list of referenced works, some publications which deal exclusively with the battle and contain much primary source material, and replaced them with one printed work which deals generally with the Civil War as a whole, and a web resource which contains several factual inaccuracies. You have introduced several spelling mistakes and errors in punctuation. Please read also the Military History Wikiproject guidelines on the structure of articles on battles; an introduction which repeats much of the information in the main body of the article is superfluous and confusing. Finally, while I grant that the previous version could do with some more references, twenty footnoted citations of a mere ten pages of a single printed work is quite unnecessary.
In a few days I will try and incorporate the previous body of this article with your additions. HLGallon 00:28, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply to this, rather intemperate, message of mine. I have now come off the boil. Please accept my apologies for my implied accusation of sloppiness (with regard to spelling etc); re-reading the article, most of these are minor typos or slips. Royle's work (which I have read) is indeed an excellent resource on the Civil War and related conflicts as a whole. However, Young's book is vital, I believe, not necessarily for its own conclusions and descriptions, but for the body of primary source (contemporary accounts etc.) it quotes unedited at the end, and which I shall try and reintroduce in the article. Young's book was republished by Windrush as late as 1997; some copies must be available from libraries. As I say, some of the text you have added is important to the cohesion and overall picture. Please be assured, I will not simply revert. HLGallon 10:00, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- I have partially re-edited again. Feel free to improve further, but please leave the following intact:
- The capture of Selby was an event which precipitated Newcastle's retreat and the start of the Siege of York, it is not merely an afterthought to the importance of York as a Royalist stronghold. (In any case, it is incorrect that York was the "last" Royalist bastion in the north; there were several dozen Royalist garrisons from Carlisle to Pontefract, some of which did not surrender until late 1645, although they had long since lost any military significance.)
- The forces Rupert gathered to himself were separate Royalist armies with their own missions up to that point; they were not simply a collection of regiments gathered willy-nilly.
- The Allies took up position on Marston Moor with the specific intention of blocking Rupert's march to York; not simply moving west of York to form a purposeless defensive huddle. Likewise, the bridge at Poppleton must be included in any discussion of Rupert's manoevre.
- Page numbers are no use for references with Young's work. Because it has run through so many editions, there are many layouts and formats for it.
- I have once or twice tried to produce maps showing both Rupert's flank march, and the deployment on the battlefield. It has been difficult to avoid the conflicting traps of NOR (No Original Research) and copyvio (Copyright Violation). I will make renewed efforts to add maps to the article. HLGallon 02:01, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
I have re-added the original primary quotes, and even another one (Sir T. Fairfax's), to the "Events" section. I have removed references to "Fairfax's cavalry" in Cromwell's later attacks. I think they ought not to be replaced unless some authenticated source (not Royle) can be found to substantiate it. Fairfax himself makes no mention of it. This is not to say that dedicated officers like Fairfax and Lambert would not have rallied any of their men they happened upon in the confusion, but any assertion of this in the text would be surmise. HLGallon 21:15, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Lorraine McLees has been proposed for deletion. An editor felt this person might not be notable enough for an article. Please review Wikipedia:Notability (people) for the relevant guidelines. If you can improve the article to address these concerns, please do so.
If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the "prod" template, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If you remove the prod template, the article will not be deleted, but if an editor is still not satisfied that it meets Wikipedia guidelines, it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
