Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 20:08, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions

[edit]

Hi Pyphon

Just want to reinforce suggestions I've been making on the talk page for Syria, so your posts are readily visible.

1) It is good practice to put a blank line before your post. This avoids your post running into the end of the line of the previous post, and also adds a little extra vertical space between posts for more visibility.
Usually all that is needed is to press return in the editor to create the blank line. If that doesn't work for some reason, when in edit mode, click on the advanced button (I think that is what it is called in English - 6th from the left) near the top to open some options. Click on the down/left arrow to insert a new line.

2) If you start a post with a space, the entire post is displayed on one line, which usually means that most of your post is invisible to other users. (Without going into edit mode, which few users will do.)
For indentation, use one or more ":"

3) The suggestion in the above section to add "~~~~" (without the quotes) at the end of each post helps make your post more visible, by adding your signature.

4) When you have finished entering your post, using the preview button lets you ensure that your post will be properly displayed.

Just trying to help, since I'm sure most users would like to see your posts, as I do.
You can reply to me here (to clarify problems or whatever), I'll be watching this page.

Keep up the good work

[edit]

Just like to repeat that I am REALLY SORRY for my misplaced comments, which were meant to be directed at the inappropriate behavior of another contributor, who ended up being banned. I don't know of ANY inappropriate actions on your part. We need more contributors like you. Regards. André437 (talk) 21:49, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please read this notification carefully:
A community decision has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to the Syrian Civil War and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.

General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

Sock puppets

[edit]

Please read WP:SOCK and specifically the section WP:ILLEGIT

  • Contributing to the same page or discussion with multiple accounts: Editors may not use more than one account to contribute to the same page or discussion in a way that suggests they are multiple people.
  • Editing logged out to mislead: Editing under multiple IP addresses may be treated the same as editing under multiple accounts where it is done deceptively or otherwise violates the above principles. Where editors log out by mistake, they may wish to contact an editor with oversight access to ensure there is no misunderstanding.

You have this account use it. If you make any more edits to talk:Cities and towns during the Syrian Civil War with IP addresses then I will talk administrative action. -- PBS (talk) 01:11, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
