South East Asia Chinese Bible Fellowship (CBF) University Of Windsor, Ontario, Canada 1979 - 1987 During the period in time, University Of Windsor was a popular foreign student hub of learning centre. The foreign students were mainly from Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. A Windsorite by the name of Dan Connor with his wife Darlene Connor both from Salvation Army Church saw the need to start a Evangelical Fellowship for the foreign students. After establishing a regular meeting place at the University above the University Lounge usually on a Friday evening at 7 pm, the group eventually grew in numbers totalling 120 students. During the summer months, the University classes were 95% Asians and it was curious sight for local Windsorites to see so many Asians walking around campus. This in turn brought in many Chinese (Vietnamese Owner) BBQ restaurant and Chinese groceries stores to Windsor. CBF meetings became a place of encouragement to the often "home sick" foreign students, who in those days were limited to the access of long distance phone calls. "It was very expensive then to make a 1 minute long distance phone call to Malaysia. There was no internet or emails. It was just plain mail which took 15 days to send and another 15 days to receive the letter.", recalls Ben Yew. And in this place a great many foreign students became Christians. Although CBF has cease to exist in University Of Windsor as of 1987, the group still maintains contact with each other in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, USA, London, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. The group often have "CBF" retreats in Malaysia and Singapore though out the years. This is the testament of how God can bring real changes in lives because of Dan and Darlene Connor. On Febuary 4th 2015, Darlene Connor returned "home" after prolonged illness and leaves Dan Connor to soldier on (now retired).
Mathew 25:40 "The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'
