SVG images

[edit]

Hi Publius!

Do you have vector versions of the diagrams you have been contributing, such as the Articles of Confederation? It's better to upload such images as SVGs to Wikipedia, as these will scale to larger display sizes and the printed page without the pixelation of bitmaps. So it would be great if you could convert your work to SVG (e.g. with Inkscape) and upload those as well... Morn (talk) 18:07, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

Same, do you have some of the originals you would be willing to share? Mowque (talk) 16:59, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sparta

[edit]

Hi. I apologise for the brusque and unhelpful tone of my remark about your diagram of the classical Spartan constitution. I was forgetting to be polite and I am sorry. I really want to see the article improved, as Sparta is one of my favourite subjects, but in order for that to happen, contributors who know and care about the subject are going to have to work together. I would love to have you contribute to a rewrite of the article, because you obviously have a lot to offer. Having said that, I am not convinced that the diagram as it is at the moment belongs in the article. It's already in History of Sparta, for one thing, and to be quite honest I'm not convinced it belongs there either. I think that there is a place for it in an article that doesn't yet exist, namely one on the Constitution of Sparta. My reason for saying so is that the diagram is fairly complex, and while it does indeed display the structure of the Sparta Constitution, it doesn't make a lot of sense to anyone who doesn't know anything about that subject. (For example, most newcomers to the subject will be wondering what an Ephor is, or what the Krypteia is, etc., and the diagram doesn't explain this - it only illustrates the structure.) Anyone who has already read something about the subject would find the diagram useful, since it shows very clearly the lines of power and influence, but it does require a certain amount of basic knowledge to interpret. Since you know a lot about the subject, why not have a go at writing the detailed article about the Spartan Constitution, and then write a précis of it which can be used as a sub-section of the Sparta article? You seem to be more qualified than anyone else to do so. I would welcome your contribution, in any case. Lexo (talk) 00:03, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. I have at last had a go at a complete reorganisation and rewrite of Sparta. There is a long way to go, but I think that the article is now considerably more well-structured, less bloated and less repetitive than it was before. In the process of doing it I had to split off the very detailed section on the classical Spartan constitution and place it in an entirely new article, The Spartan Constitution. It needs a lead section. Would you like to have a go? I think you are the best person for the job, for what it's worth. Cheers, Lexo (talk) 15:21, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adrianne Wadewitz Memorial edit-a-thons

[edit]
Adrianne Wadewitz edit-a-thons in Southern New England

As you may have already heard, the Wikipedia community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. As part of a worldwide series of tributes, New England Wikimedians, in conjunction with local institutions of higher learning, have created three edit-a-thons that will be occurring in May and June. The events are as follows:

We hope that you will be able to join us, whether you are an experienced editor or are using Wikipedia for the first time.

If you have any questions, please leave a message at Kevin Rutherford's talk page. You can unsubscribe from future notifications for Boston-area events by removing your name from this list.
