Fair use rationale for File:PonceLogo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:PonceLogo.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ╟─TreasuryTag►First Secretary of State─╢ 17:35, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:PonceLogo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:PonceLogo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

- Just in case you were puzzling over this, even though your image now has a license, to avoid deletion your image must be used in an article. (If you want to respond, please do so here.) HairyWombat (talk) 03:42, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks HairyWombat! but I think this image won't be used in that article, can we delete it? --PrussianBlue1 (talk) 05:42, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- If you do nothing, DASHbot will delete it for you. If you wish to hurry this along then change the date in the {{di-orphaned fair use}} template to "3 May 2010". HairyWombat (talk) 06:55, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I did but apparently it didn't work. Although it is strange because I used your hint for another image and it worked. --PrussianBlue1 (talk) 07:05, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- Its a bot. These are very reliable, but sometimes a little slow. I see the image is gone now. Job well done. HairyWombat (talk) 05:02, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Saving PSM Logo License
[edit]Summary
[edit]Description |
This is the logo for Ponce School of Medicine. |
---|---|
Source |
The logo may be obtained from Ponce School of Medicine. |
Article | |
Portion used |
The entire logo is used to convey the meaning intended and avoid tarnishing or misrepresenting the intended image. |
Low resolution? |
The logo is of a size and resolution sufficient to maintain the quality intended by the company or organization, without being unnecessarily high resolution. |
Purpose of use |
The image is placed in the infobox at the top of the article discussing Ponce School of Medicine, a subject of public interest. The significance of the logo is to help the reader identify the organization, assure the readers that they have reached the right article containing critical commentary about the organization, and illustrate the organization's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey. |
Replaceable? |
Because it is a non-free logo, there is almost certainly no free representation. Any substitute that is not a derivative work would fail to convey the meaning intended, would tarnish or misrepresent its image, or would fail its purpose of identification or commentary. |
Other information |
Use of the logo in the article complies with Wikipedia non-free content policy, logo guidelines, and fair use under United States copyright law as described above. |

How can i delete the old version of the image? --PrussianBlue1 (talk) 06:57, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Prussian, I see you seem to have a strong objection to removing certain information from this article that really does not meet certain established wikipedia guidelines, policies, and the like. Things having to do with wp:undue, wp:npov, wp:verifiable, and the like. Hey, look, few people love PSM more that me, even have a friend that got his MD there, but does everyone else reading the article feels about PSM like you and I do? Point is, we just can't be guided by that sort of yardstick here: the information has to be encyclopedic, factual, and, in particular, wp:verifiable.
I placed a number of tags on the article yesterday, and it was my intention to send you this note about it, for I see you too have a keen interest in this article, but frankly, I felt asleep on the PC and left it till now.
I think we can both help improve the PSM article, as you have some great information and I believe are well-intentioned. You will have to make your own assesment about me, but I can assure it's nothing personal: I do think you get carried away a bit on some areas. The one most prominent example of this is the one about the dean of the school: he's mentioned 3 times in the article, with basically no new information each time, and I see you still want to mention him a 4th time yet - in the intro. Yet this is not an article about this man, but about the school. Hey, I haven't done a survey of other similar school articles in wikipedia, but I bet you'd be hard pressed to find any decent articles that mention the dean in the intro with all the details PSM does.
I hope you will reconsider the tags, etc in this light. As I am able (for if you check you'll see I am busy in a few other article, some 500 to be exact), I will see if I can contribute some citations, etc, of my own. But for right now, I stand by the tags placed there as necessary to address deficiencies in what could otherwise be a great article. Regards, Mercy11 (talk) 23:54, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi Mercy,
Thanks for commenting here. I really wanted to talk to you. I don't want us to waste time fighting edits in wikipedia. I know you can be a good contributor and you have helped this and other articles.
I don't want to sound rude in this written conversation so take my word that I am here in the best mood to solve this little problem:
1)I just want to point the fact that you should look at other medical schools articles before asking for an input or a level of complexity that is unreasonable at the moment. To be fair you should question every other medical school article with the same rigor you have done to this one. You should try to discuss your suggestions because we all want to contribute but the way you did your editing initially doesn't promote cooperation.
2) You questioned for example the Notable section in the article in a way that I think is unfair. Nevertheless, I am trying to add more information on this to justify why they are on that category.
3) Also please note that Joxel Garcia was placed on the introduction because it is a big piece of information (a lot of people only read this section). I did not appreciate your first edits in which you removed information on him without any real justification. You even went to Joxel Garcia's article and edited with tags that are not justified. This man was a high ranking official in the health department. The highest ranking Puerto Rican health official in history.
Joxel Garcia is named in different sections but it is not his fault that he was an alumni (therefore appears in that section) and is now the president and dean (two more positions there) of the school. At the very least he has had 3 different roles as part of Ponce School of Medicine. I think this is something you did not noticed.
4) All the information I have included is verifiable information. Most of them with extensive reference. btw thanks for offering in adding more references and citations.
I don't know if I answered everything but please feel free to stop and comment here. Note that I did take most of your suggestions into account and added many things including references. Please consider revising your tags on Joxel Garcia's article I think they were a bit harsh.
Regards--PrussianBlue1 (talk) 00:28, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- I am glad we have some basic understanding. Regards, Mercy11 (talk) 00:57, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Joxel Garcia
[edit]Just to make the point that this was very unfair. I recognize that the Joxel Garcia article can use some references(which are widely available) but other than that I dont see the need for labeling that article when you can tell the article is pretty much a fact list.
Note that you implied I was trying to promote "this man" on the Ponce School of Medicine article and then you go to the actual article with the same bias? Again this guy was a high ranking official with a lot of verifiable information no need to tag it as puffery.
btw congrats on the 500 articles! It would drive me crazy, but I guess it gets easier when the articles are more or less finished. Thanks again and let me know your opinion on this.
This article contains wording that promotes the subject in a subjective manner without imparting real information. |
Regards--PrussianBlue1 (talk) 00:48, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- The tags were not directed at you pesonally. In any event, I am glad we have some basic understanding. Regards, Mercy11 (talk) 01:03, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- I reworked the article a bit plus added some citations that, while not ready for prime time yet, should at least take it from what IMO was an abyssmally unencyclopedic form. As If I get the opportunity again I will try take another look. Regards, Mercy11 (talk) 00:52, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
no problem
[edit]btw he was also one of the founders of the school, you might want to put that in the article.El Johnson (talk) 04:24, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Not sure what happened to it, the article seems to have degraded over time, but my involvement here has been minimal for months, which means that I'm not "up to date". Perharps a topic about it should be openen at Wikipedia:WikiProject Music as well. - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:40, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Professional-Hospital-side.JPEG
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Professional-Hospital-side.JPEG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hugahoody (talk) 22:57, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:Imagen_conoce2.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Imagen_conoce2.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Closedmouth (talk) 06:46, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
