Thank you so much!
[edit]Hi, first I want to thank you for your tireless work maintaining Wikipedia. Second, I want to apologize for my son. He's 5-years old, and though I trust wikipedia content to be fairly safe for him to read, he has "edited" a few pages. He doesn't have an account, but he has gotten into editing pages which looks a lot like ip-based vandalism, and you've cleaned at least one of those up.
Here's my question: My home IP address has been blocked from editing Wikipedia, and I'm grateful for that. The block is going to expire on July 12, though, is there any way for me to extend that? Thanks so much! Archageis (talk) 23:43, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Your user page
[edit]Hello. I noticed that on your user page the "Who I am" section is almost a direct copy of my user page even including the links in the text. Could you remove it or at least reword it so it doesn't seem so dishonest? Thanks —72 talk 08:10, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
- 72 They're glocked so not sure they can even edit? CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 01:25, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
- 72 I am sure they plagiarized the text of your userpage because this sock doesn't speak English well (see their recent edits on meta). Most of us Filipinos don't speak English well (and I am lucky I am not one of them). ;) You might want to file a DMCA notice against My Royal Young for violating your copyright ;) The problem is, we don't know where is their exact location and their email address... - Content on wiki (even on user pages) isn't copyrighted so they couldn't do that but in any case, the user page is gone now. ;) CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 01:56, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
- @72, Poyekhali, and Chrissymad: I would also like to point out that part of their user talkpage (the top) may very well have been copied directly from User:Oshwah's talkpage. 46.216.31.169 (talk) 02:00, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Chrissymad: Wikipedia's content is of course copyrighted; it is licensed under the GFDL unversioned and CC BY-SA-3.0 (unless if there is CC BY-SA-3.0 only content from an external website). And that also includes user pages. If Wikipedia's content is not copyrighted, then every re-users would freely copy Wikipedia's content and claim it is their work, which we all don't like... And derivative works would not be required to be free too. Poyekhali (talk) 02:23, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
- There's no DCMA getting involved here was my point, it's CC and anyone can use it. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 02:25, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
- The DMCA comment is just a joke, don't take it seriously. :) Poyekhali (talk) 02:43, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Chrissymad and Poyekhali: Actually, you theoretically could DMCA it. Failing to attribute as required by the GFDL and CC-BY-SA makes it a straight up copyright violation for all intents and purposes. The easier method is just to add an attribution, of course. ~ Rob13Talk 21:41, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

(←) @Chrissymad: Thanks for dealing with their userpage. I was uncertain as to whether I had much control over that content being there. Regarding them being globally locked, I hadn't noticed since I didn't look at their contribs page. Turns out that the "Strike out usernames that have been blocked" script only works for usernames that have been locally blocked. —72 talk 10:14, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
- Is this pages should be request for deletion, since this was created by a banned or blocked users? SA 13 Bro (talk) 12:44, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
- No, because that criteria applies to pages created in violation of the ban, while this page was made a while ago as a user in good standing. Pinguinn 🐧 05:56, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
