15 people?!

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Stephen G. Bassett

Are you kidding? Who are they? 192.160.216.52 (talk) 20:55, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

For obvious reasons I can only count and make guesses based on device type and location, which requires finding a suitable router panel and monitoring the traffic volume. I can't see how anyone could narrow it down further, it's hard enough doing that. Prince of Thieves (talk) 21:12, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

Device type? You can see device type? How does that work. Router panel? What are you talking about? Please, list the 15 people. 192.160.216.52 (talk) 21:47, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
No, I can't 'see' device type, I can guess at the device type based on screen size (which is estimated based on media queries (also estimated based on .m usage and image optimisation giveaways) to then correlate with probable types), but I definitely can't list the people using a network, it's not like they have big placards with their names on them. Prince of Thieves (talk) 22:04, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
Media queries to what server? You don't have access to WM servers to see what anyone's queries look like. I think you're blowing smoke. But in case you're not, please do list the 15 people to whom you've narrowed me down. 192.160.216.52 (talk) 22:14, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
All I did was use a very basic program to get some traffic data from the network (or router if you like). I then put these things on screen and see what items were requested from sites using media queries to serve dynamic content (images etc) from .m or device specific CDNs. This then shows the screen size of the device. Regarding the number of people, that is simply an estimation based on the overall volume of traffic. This does not require access to any servers, devices etc, and doesn't give access to any encrypted data (anything you do on an http site is basically visible to anyone, but if you use https, it is secure, Wikipedia uses https, and is secure) so I can't list anyone's names. If you want more information, go and read some basic security guides, do a course, learn about the tools or ask on stackexchange. Prince of Thieves (talk) 22:30, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
There's no need to be condescending. I know as much about packet sniffing as anyone. You're claiming now that you've sniffed packets on the same network I'm on? If not, what do your claims have to do with anything? If so, since, as you state, WP uses https, you didn't sniff these packets, so again, what do your claims have to do with anything? 192.160.216.52 (talk) 22:42, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
Mostly to do with verifying jbs claim that he can do better than me and find who someone is based on their IP, which I find a highly spurious claim. Since as I have explained, that is not possible. (note that you can sniff packets regardless of https, you can't decrypt them, but that is incidental to finding what I was looking for, since I am only looking for traffic volumes and checking whether it's a .m site, plus how images are handled, based purely on destination/origin data which is not encrypted even with https.) Prince of Thieves (talk) 22:56, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
You're making me dizzy now!!

Prince, we have a rule about opposition research: we have banned people for it. If you want checkuser, file a SPI request., but do not repeat this sort of information there or anywhere.
and your image below is crashing my computer. DGG ( talk ) 21:47, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

AfD

Could you please explain your revision here? CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 15:52, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

@Chrissymad: See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mart Sander. Prince of Thieves (talk) 16:03, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
Prince of Thieves That doesn't explain removing an AfD notice of an active discussion. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 16:04, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
Yeah it wasn't active when I removed the tag, and from the history I assumed it was someone incorrectly trying to put another PROD on the article. (In fact the nomination page was created 8 minutes after the tag was added to the article). Prince of Thieves (talk) 16:05, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

I may have missed something

re your prod on Corpocracy -- "transwiki is deprecated"" does this mean we never move material to Wiktionary now? If so, there are a lot of instructions that need to be updated. DGG ( talk ) 00:00, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

@DGG: A lot of templates as well, however it seems to have been deprecated due to disuse rather than anything else, so there isn't much happening there. The discussion is at WT:DEL, and ansh666 says the process is no longer maintained on any Wiki now. Prince of Thieves (talk) 00:05, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
