Confused about denial
[edit]Hi I've reviewed the approved Wikipedia pages of dozens of agencies both within our market - Louisville - and outside and was very careful to restrict hyperbole, provide legitimate citations and keep the listing straightforward and Encyclopedia-like. If you look for example at the Wiki for Doe-Anderson, Inc. I think you will find their listing almost indistinguishable from the PriceWeber listing. Can someone point to how these listings are substantially different? PriceWeber (talk) 18:12, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hi PriceWeber, a few things for you:
- I'm sorry, but I had to issue a block to you because your username indicates you represent a group, which isn't allowed under our username policy. Below, I have invited you to change it; note that a name that indicates you are someone from your company and not the company itself is certainly allowed, and we can rescind the block if you are willing to change your name. You can still edit this page in the meantime.
- I haven't seen the other page yet, but please read WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS - it's not a valid argument for that reason. It too may need to be dealt with.
- When editing with a conflict of interest, be mindful of certain red flags. A "Recent achievements" section screams a WP:NPOV violation, for instance. It can be incredibly difficult to try and edit corporate articles with a neutral point of view, but you have to mention the negatives with the positives and use reliable sources to tell a story. Framing your history section as prose instead of a bulleted list will help a little with this. I might suggest taking a look at Sega as an example - it's admittedly one of my own, but it's an article that's been featured on the main page and thus is probably a good example of how to write an article on a corporation.
- I hope this helps you, and if you have other questions, feel free to {{ping}} me. Red Phoenix talk 21:04, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

[edit]You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.
Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page.
You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text
{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.
Thank you. Red Phoenix talk 20:55, 4 August 2020 (UTC)User name change please?

Hi, two more quick things for you:
- I just want to advise you that while you're more than welcome to use your real name, be advised that it could increase the risk of being harassed or doxxed. I want to make sure you understand and acknowledge that you accept this and still want to use it.
- If you do accept, we will have to get a global renamer involved. If you're comfortable using email and set one up (WP:ENABLEEMAIL), you can go here to send a request to be renamed, and I'll be glad to lift the block for you with your assurance you'll be cautious about promotional tone and editing with a conflict of interest. If you're not comfortable enabling email, let me know here and I'll see if I can ping a global renamer to get their attention. Red Phoenix talk 00:00, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- I'm happy to act as the renamer if the editor confirms below they accept the potential issues noted above of using a real name. Nosebagbear (talk) 12:03, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
