[edit]Hi, this is Captain panda. I am just wondering exactly what my article had that caused it to be what Wikipedia is not. Captain panda 21:40, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well, for starters, the damage that a unit does is way too specific and should never be included in an encyclopedia entry. For another thing, mentioning that air units and reavers counter it is also not suitable for Wikipedia. If you want to add something, try the StarCraft Wiki at Wikia or StrategyWiki. Zeratul En Taro Adun!So be it. 21:45, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry. I just figured that those facts would be handy in an article about a unit in a computer game. Captain panda 21:48, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

If you fancy adoption by me, have a look at user page, if you like - leave me a message on my talk page or yours. Cheers Lethaniol 00:44, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Category:Stubs backlog
[edit]Hi PZ - FWIW, anything over about 75 stubs is regarded as a backlog in Category:Stubs. That category is meant to be permanently either empty or as near to empty as possible (it usually has about 5-10 articles in it). Putting up the backlog notice alerts the members of WP:WSS that there is work to be done there (it shows up in their watchlists). Grutness...wha? 05:24, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, okay. Thanks. I just thought that 90-odd articles wasn't much since some backlogs have well over a thousand. Zeratul En Taro Adun!So be it. 14:07, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
hmm... response
[edit]Unfortunately, due to the way wikipedia is set up, there's no way to make an image a link. By default, clicking on an image brings it up as a source on the upload screen. That's why captions are so important. You can put the links you need in those captions. Otherwise, stuff like image source and stuff are on the image page. I thought about html as a workaround, but the link a href tags are not supported in markup. Dåvid ƒuchs (talk • contribs) 22:11, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Your VandalProof Application
[edit]Dear Prelate Zeratul,
Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Prodego talk 23:07, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

A bit of help with a StarCraft wikia template
[edit]I used to be a big editor of StarCraft articles at wikipedia, but I haven't edited anything significant for the past few months. One reason I haven't done so is that I've been working on the StarCraft wikia instead.
I noticed you improved/rewrote the StarCraft infobox template here. Cool! I wish I had noticed the changes earlier, as I ended up with something different at the wikia (using brute force/experimentation rather than actual knowledge or skill). It ends up looking almost the same, though.
The StarCraft infobox template seems to allow the use of "optional" entries (eg if you don't know someone's species, you can leave it out). Can you show me how to do that here? Thanks. Kimera757 18:05, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think it's the {{if}} template, this is the code of the template:
{| class="infobox" style="width: 21em; text-align: left;" |- ! colspan="2" style="text-align: center;" | ''[[StarCraft universe|StarCraft]]'' character |- ! colspan="2" style="text-align: center; font-size: larger; background-color:{{{bgcolor|black}}}; color:{{{fgcolor|white}}};" | {{{name|{{PAGENAME}}}}} |- ! colspan="2" style="text-align: center;" |{{{image|}}} |- | colspan="2" style="text-align: center;" |{{{caption|}}} |- ! Species | {{{species|Unknown}}} {{#if:{{{gender|}}}|<tr><th>Gender</th><td>{{{gender|}}}</td></tr>}} |- ! Affiliation(s) | {{{affiliation|None}}} |- ! Position(s) | {{{position|N/A}}} {{#if:{{{voiceactor|}}}|<tr><th>Voiced by</th><td>{{{voiceactor|}}}</td></tr>}} |}
- I'm not sure exactly how it works, but {{if}} seems to play a part in it. Zeratul En Taro Adun!So be it. 16:08, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Infobox templates - colours and errors
[edit]I checked the backlog of the edits to the Zerg Brood page and discovered it was you who added the appropriate colour backgrounds to the infoboxes for each Zerg Brood. I was hoping you may be able to tell me how you got the right shades so I can get similar effects for different colours (such as grey, brown and yellow) in other articles. Simple trial-and-error by changing a value here and a value there doesn't really help and I can't find a Wikipedia guideline article for it.
In addition, I see you are the one who brought the SC character template up to its current status. I was hoping you could look at this one I attempted to create for SC factions. I can't see anything wrong with it, but the optional rows are creating a gap at the top of the page, see Terran Confederacy to see what I mean. Any help on this will be appreciated. -- S@bre 14:57, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- For Zerg Broods, I used Web colors. I'm not good with templates, so I can't help you there :) Zeratul En Taro Adun!So be it. 15:00, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- I draft a (very) rough infoboxish template and put it on the talk page (of Zerg Brood). It would be much easier, even with so many paremeters, than each being raw code. David Fuchs 15:22, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hehehe :) No more inactivity from me! I'll get active starting sometime this weekend. *Zeratul grins hopefully :)
- I've updated the template here on my userspace. I'm not sure if we want an infobox template, but that's easy enough to change. David Fuchs 18:37, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm... maybe a space at {{Zerg Brood}} or {{ZergBrood}}. A userspace template would work just as well, though. You should really refer to Web colors; even though it's kinda WP:NOT it's still a great reference :) Zeratul En Taro Adun!So be it. 19:41, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

VundoFix
[edit]Looks good to begin with- however the one crucial element the article is currently missing is what makes it a notable piece of software. If there was a GA or FA class article on software, I guess that would be something interesting to find... as for the Wikiproject, I would check the list of them here and then if there isn't one, try and rouse interests. The bane of any Wikiproject is becoming inactive, so check around the contributions of editors on pages that would be part of the wikiproject, then message them and try and get a group of like-minded editors. If you ever need any help, I'm always here. :) 19:36, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

StarCraft Minor Characters Article
[edit]Don't "hmph" me, S@bre and I are trying to increase the quality of the pages, and the current page is an in-universe, unsourced mess. As it is, S@bre and I will be replacing much of the pages (that one included) in time anyway, so in the end most of the data will either be removed or re-written.
I understand why you aren't happy, but in the future, don't be so rude to me. Trust me, I know StarCraft, and it's for the good of the pages. The Clawed One 23:07, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hehehehe. Sorry about that, but it gets on my nerves when I link to Daggoth - and it turns out to be a redirect page. Have you tried cleaning it up, as in getting rid of unnecessary entries, merging entries together, etc. I could help if you like ;) Zeratul En Taro Adun!So be it. 14:21, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- It's k. I unfortunately cannot help. S@bre and I have our hands full handling the full-scale character articles, among several others. The Clawed One 14:45, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Glad to help with those. Point me :) Zeratul En Taro Adun!So be it. 14:46, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- I noticed you flagged up the minor characters article for a complete rewrite. If you want to help there, a restructured version is in progress here. Other than restructuring it into three catergories (official game, authorised add-on and novel) I've not really done much, but I'm aiming to tear down what's there and restart with the minor characters down to around two paragraphs (three max): one focusing mainly on the character/personality of the character, the other quickly summarising their role in the medium/plot they appear in. If you've read Uprising, it would be immensely helpful if you did the characters from Uprising as I've not read it and I don't think Clawed One has either. -- Sabre 15:06, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- The only novels I've read are Queen of Blades and Liberty's Crusade... I'll work on the reconstructed version :) Zeratul En Taro Adun!So be it. 15:28, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- You're correct, S@bre, the only Novel I've read is Firstborn. The Clawed One 15:42, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- In your rewrite... Khas is listed under "Books" because he is prominently featured in Firstborn. However, he is also prominently featured in the series as well. As an example, one of Zeratul's unit speeches is "Khas Neradak!" (or something... it's hard to spell Protoss-ian) Zeratul En Taro Adun!So be it. 19:25, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Khas does not appear in any of the games. Her is refered too, but does not actually appear, which merits a reason to mention his impact on the Protoss and their usage of his name in their warcries, and that, in turn, belongs on the Protoss main page.
- Would you mind signing? :) Zeratul En Taro Adun!So be it. 22:58, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
