Welcome!
[edit]Hello, BossDragon64934, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some tips that you might find helpful:
- Link to other articles with double square brackets
- Here are some articles where you can practice adding links to other articles. When you've got at least two blue links in the article you can remove the code from the top of the page.
- Add pictures from Wikimedia Commons using thumb for thumbnail|Left, right or center so it knows where to go|a meaningful caption|alt=a description for blind people
- Example
- Click here for an exercise in adding images to articles.
- Now you know how to add pictures to Wikipedia, why not add your own? This shows you articles that are near you. Is there one without a picture or where you could take a better one? In many countries modern buildings are still copyrighted, but not in the UK and some other places. This is the upload page on Wikimedia Commons.
- Add headings with ==double equal signs==
- If an article has sections two editors can edit different sections simultaneously without edit conflicts. Four or more sections and you get a table of contents.
- Here are articles where you can practice adding sections when you've finished splitting an article into sections you can delete from the top of the page.
- ===subheadings are similar===
- When you add information to Wikipedia please summarize things in your own words, and tell us where you got the information from in the following format
- If you find unreferenced information on Wikipedia that you consider dubious or unlikely, first try to reference it yourself. If you know it is wrong, correct it, if you can't find a source then fact adds the famous [citation needed]. If, after a week no-one has referenced the information, feel free to remove it.
- Double single quotes gives you Italic and triple quotes Bold.
Many Wikipedians organise themselves by subject area, we have hundreds of WikiProjects ranging from Arts to Zoology, and I'm sure there will be ones that fit your interests. A good place to look for them is Category:WikiProjects by topic, alternatively the talkpages of articles you are interested in may have links to relevant Wikiprojects.
Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this adds your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, visit The Teahouse, ask me on my talk page, or , and a volunteer should respond shortly. Again, welcome! ϢereSpielChequers 14:20, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
Back again for more?!
[edit]Hate to be repetitive, but it's time you made the effort to find another hobby. Perhaps you could take "Sierra" on long walks at night in an effort to "stop vandalism"? You just love playing close to the edge, don't you?--Quisqualis (talk) 22:59, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
Women in Red
[edit]Hi there, BossDragon64934, and welcome to Women in Red. It's good to hear you intend to help with Wikipedia's coverage of women. As you have not yet gained much experience in editing, you might find it useful to go through The Wikipedia Adventure. When you feel ready to create your own biographies you should look at our Ten Simple Rules. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 08:40, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Elam, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. - LouisAragon (talk) 22:47, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
Hello
[edit]Hello Praxeria. I'm sorry for often being the one reverting you. I have nothing against you, it's just that I'm one of the few who usually patrol these areas. The recent one being this one [1], since it was added without any sources. I know, the information there is already unsourced, but it's never a good idea to keep that pattern alive in an article. I suspect you might have mixed it up with what happened after the Ilkhanate fell? I.e. the many states (some Iranian, some other ethnicities) which arose after the Ilkhanate collapsed. If you have any questions, please ask away. Bests. HistoryofIran (talk) 14:22, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hey @HistoryofIran, thanks for leaving me a notice on my talk page. I believe you may be mistaken, as the article I had edited was about a conflict that took place between the remnants of the Khwarazmian Empire, along with Seljuq rebels, against the Ayyubid and Seljuq empires. I was under the impression that after the central Khwarazmian power in modern-day Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan had collapsed in the Mongols, several states would emerge on the plateau for a short time until Mongol subjugation. However, I am sorry for not sourcing my information, and will try to do better in the future. Praxeria (talk) 16:08, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
- All good. If you need any source(s) feel free to ask, I have plenty. --HistoryofIran (talk) 22:42, 15 November 2022 (UTC)

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Shrine of Abu Lu'lu'a. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

- How was my edit unconstructive? Historical evidence indicates that Abu Lulu'a was executed in Medina, but there is no definite consensus. I think you're reading too much into what I do. Praxeria (talk) 15:34, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- Given the uncertainty of the historical accounts (which were written 200 years after the facts) on this subject in general, saying that Abu Lu'lu'a Firuz "likely" died in Medina is fair and something that historians might also do. I'm not sure whether it is needed where you added it, but I don't think it's deserving of a warning.
- That said, please do use edit summaries to explain your edits and the reasoning behind them, and when one of your edits gets reverted, please explain even more fully at the article talk page. On a collaborative project like this, it is essential to WP:COMMUNICATE effectively.
- Also please make sure that you cite sources for any change you make to article content. For example, this could have been avoided if you had read up on the sources, or even simply checked the Sabians article, before making this edit. Even if you're quite certain of something, always double check with the sources whether what you're adding is accurate.
- Thanks for taking this into consideration, ☿ Apaugasma (talk ☉) 17:32, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- 1. Will do, I will make a habit of making edit summaries and will try to explain my edits on the talk page if it is merited
- 2. ? On "People of the Book", I only made some grammatical corrections and specifying that the the Sabians were likely the same as the Mandaeans, which was also specified on the page for the Mandaeans themselves. That being said, I'll try to add a direct source next time just to be safe.
- Thank you for this notice. Praxeria (talk) 18:37, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- An honest mistake, clearly. Mandaeans#Sabians does explain it, but it's easy to miss something like that. Thanks for your magnanimity! ☿ Apaugasma (talk ☉) 18:47, 18 November 2022 (UTC)

Shi`ites
[edit]The "-ite" suffix was never claimed to be from Arabic -- see https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/-ite . If you want to be accurate to Arabic, then a singular adherent is a Shi'i... AnonMoos (talk) 03:47, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- I know, but I was just trying to be accurate in general circumstances, as well as follow the linguistic norms of the English-speaking world. Praxeria (talk) 03:55, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- However, thank you for the notice. Praxeria (talk) 03:57, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- Shi'ite, Shiite, Shi'i, Shi'a and Shia are all legitimate and more or less equivalent spellings (see, e.g., https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/shiite). Please don't go around changing spellings to your personally preferred version without gaining consensus for it first: this is considered disruptive (see MOS:STYLEVAR). ☿ Apaugasma (talk ☉) 07:51, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- However, thank you for the notice. Praxeria (talk) 03:57, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
