[edit]Hello, and welcome to contributing to Wikipedia. I hope you will have a successful time here. However, for at least two reasons your changes at David P. Smith are not quite suitable. Firstly, and most importantly, taking over a link to a disambiguation page and turning it into an article on just one topic prevents editors from finding the other topics in that disambiguation page. The right way to handle this situation is to create a new article on the new topic, and then add a link to it in the disambiguation page. Secondly, the article as you have made it needs various improvements. In particular it needs references to reliable sources, both to make the content of the article verifiable and to establish that its topic is sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. I shall move the version to a draft, at Draft:David P. Smith. You can work on it there, and when you think it's ready to become an article you can submit it for review by an experienced editor to decide whether it's suitable. When I have done that I'll come back and tell you. Unfortunately it will take a while, as I shall need to separate your version from the history of the existing page. Please don't try to edit the page until I've finished.
My advice to new editors is that it is best to start by making small improvements to existing articles, rather than creating new articles. That way any mistakes you make will be small ones, and you won't have the discouraging experience of repeatedly seeing hours of work deleted. Gradually, you will get to learn how Wikipedia works, and after a while you will know enough about what is acceptable to be able to write whole new articles without fear that they will be deleted. Over the years I have found that editors who start by making small changes to existing articles and work up from there have a far better chance of having a successful time here than those who jump right into creating new articles from the start. The draft is now ready, and you can continue to work on it if you wish to. JBW (talk) 16:54, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
