User talk:Pottseee/Self-Portrait as Saint Catherine of Alxandria

[edit]I will be giving suggestions for what could be added or improved upon in the original article, I'll be going section by section, so each paragraph or set of sentences will be for each section of the article.
First paragraph:
This article mentions her rape trial in the overall description, which I would argue is too soon. Perhaps there could be a section added mentioning her series of female martyr paintings and have this segment of information added to it instead of being in the description. Her work is much more important than what happened to her, and although it can be important to mention when it pertains to the piece, her work should be looked at through a wider lens than just her rape.
Description:
The first sentence has good information, but what tradition is being referred to?
Adding a visual description section could be useful, just to provide a very basic description without mentioning iconographic meaning right away.
That being said, I think iconography might be a good heading and section to include. Information about the palm frond, headscarf, and halo could be expanded on. The last sentence might be useful as a lead into the section I suggested earlier about her other female martyr pieces and what they all have in common with this piece. If the piece started out as a self-portrait and then was changed to depict Gentileschi as the saint, then I think that should be investigated, and information about why, such as her rape, might be useful to include if that is the reasoning behind the change.
