Welcome to the Wikipedia!
[edit]Hello, and Welcome to the Wikipedia, Potatoe! Thanks for the contribution to the Joe Lieberman article. Hope you enjoy editing here and becoming a Wikipedian! Here are a few perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:
- Take a look at the Wikipedia Tutorial and Manual of Style.
- When you have time, you can peruse The five pillars of Wikipedia, and assume good faith, but keep in mind the unique style you brought to the Wiki!
- Always keep the notion of NPOV in mind, be respectful of others' POV, and remember your perspective on the meaning of neutrality is invaluable!
- If you need any help, post your question at the Help Desk.
- Explore, be bold in editing, and, above all else, have fun!
And some odds and ends: Boilerplate text, Brilliant prose, Cite your sources, Civility, Conflict resolution, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Pages needing attention, Peer review, Policy Library, Utilities, Verifiability, Village pump, Wikiquette, and you can sign your name on any page by typing 4 tildes: ~~~~.
Best of luck, Potatoe, and most importantly, have fun! Ombudsman 21:51, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
User page
[edit]Please write something about yourself on your user page, once you do, you will no longer be a red link (which invites people to question your edits as a potential newbie vandal). Thanks for the productive edits you have been adding to biographies. :-) NoSeptember talk 22:42, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- I didn't realize we were showing many senators as (law school=none). It seems to suggest that they are unqualified when being a lawyer is not a prerequisite of the office. Of course, that box could be hidden for those senators who did not attend a law school just like the death information is hidden for those still alive (using the HiddenStructure). Truthfully though, there is a history of discussion of what belongs in the infoboxes (religion, etc.) though not specifically the Senate inforbox (which is relatively new) and Curps is much more up on this than me. Unless there is a groundswell to include law schools, I think the infobox will remain as it was. Don't be discouraged, there are a lot of other areas in wikipedia that need work. Several of us, including myself, work on legal articles and judicial biographies, and much needs to be done. NoSeptember talk 12:56, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
Senator infobox and law school
[edit]"Law school" isn't a suitable entry for the senator infobox. Certainly not all Senators come from a legal background. The infobox should really only contain information universally applicable to all senators. -- Curps 23:43, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
I've replied at Template talk:Infobox Senator. -- Curps 08:08, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
