Please avoid use of jstor proxy urls
[edit]Hi. Please don't use jstor proxy urls for references, as they are only useful for the institute where you are located. It is better to utilise the jstor stable urls that are available from their site. For example, the url you are looking to use would be https://www.jstor.org/stable/3178747 also to note that the remainder of the url with its search terms should also have been avoided wherever possible. — billinghurst sDrewth 00:24, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
- You did it again, please use proper references, not those that are proxies. — billinghurst sDrewth 07:44, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
Notes
[edit]Hi! I have a quick note for you:
I removed the following sentence because it was unsourced and read too much like a point of view statement:
- Its important to remember that multiracial feminist theory lumps of women of color and their experiences.
This was in the lead, so unless it's stated and sourced in the main article it's going to be seen as an unsourced statement. It didn't seem like this was really covered later in the article, so it posed an issue as far as that goes. The term "important" also posed an issue since it's a subjective and opinion term. For example, someone may argue that it's not really a point of importance or at least not one that should be given much weight, whereas another person could strongly disagree with that. Statements like this should be attributed to the person making them in the source. So for example, it could be written as "This Person states that..." or "Critics of...".
Now as far as the JSTOR URL stuff goes, JSTOR typically has a URL somewhere in the page's text that can be used as a permalink. Many sites will have something along those lines as far as journal articles go and in some cases the proxy URL can be edited relatively easily to remove the proxy. So for example this:
Can be edited to this by removing ".libproxy.nau.edu" from the domain name (muse-jhu-edu) and turning the slashes into dots (muse.jhu.edu):
I hope this makes sense - if all else fails, you can always ask me for help or google the name of the source, as this will typically bring up a non-proxied URL that can be used. Let me know if you have any questions! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:21, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
