Welcome!

Hello, PollyGTS, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for helping us build a great free encyclopedia. We have five basic principles, but other than that, we advise that you be bold and edit. If you ever have any questions or need help, feel free to leave a message at the help desk, and other Wikipedia editors will be happy to assist you.

Thanks again and congratulations on becoming a Wikipedian!

P.S. New discussion threads for you will appear at the bottom of this page.

Hello PollyGTS,

It seems to me that an article you worked on, Guildford Theatre School, may be copied from http://www.guildfordtheatreschool.co.uk/. It's entirely possible that I made a mistake, but I wanted to let you know because Wikipedia is strict about copying from other sites.

It's important that you edit the article and rewrite it in your own words, unless you're absolutely certain nothing in it is copied. If you're not sure how to fix the problem or have any questions, there are people at the help desk who are happy to assist you.

Thank you for helping build a free encyclopedia! MadmanBot (talk) 09:44, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello talk

Thank you for emailing me to notify me of the editing query you placed on my account. I am grateful to you for taking the time to write to me as others have just deleted the page before I have had time to OTTS it and understand fully the nature of how Wiki works. I am new to editing on this system and it takes me a little while to process. I hope that everything is now in order. If you feel that I am still under any infringement according to Wikipedia, please let me know what I have to do to update this and answer/correct the query.

Many thanks PollyGTS (talk) 09:57, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Guildford Youth Theatre requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. - MrX 14:01, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I believe that this page was deleted in error as we own the copyright of the material. Please could you reinstate the page. Many thanks, PollyGTS (talk) 17:23, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

[edit]

Hi Polly, thanks for message. So many problems. I deleted your article because

  • The article was a copyright violation of a page marked 2012 Guildford Youth Theatre.. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient. But in any case the copyrighted text is far too promotional to be useful for Wikipedia's purposes, so there would not be any point in your jumping through all the hoops that are required.
  • It was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced claims presented as fact include: who are passionate... exciting company... greatest musicals ever written... commitment and a love of performing... highly skilled technical team... talented young performers... shows of the highest calibre... — I'm afraid this is an encyclopaedia, not a free advertising billboard.
  • You did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets notability guidelines.
  • You have an obvious conflict of interest when it comes to editing articles about this subject. Thank you for declaring your interest. If, after reading the information about notability linked above, you still believe that your organisation is notable enough for a Wikipedia article (and that there is significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources), you could, if you wish, post a request at Wikipedia:Requested articles for the article to be created. See also Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest.

I hope this helps, Jimfbleak - talk to me? 20:42, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've just noticed the GTS page, also deleted now. I'm shortly going to block your account because your username appears to be intended for promotion too. You will be able to open a new account with a name that does not imply that you are editing on behalf of an organisation. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 20:51, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. If you prefer to be unblocked for the purpose of changing your username to a username which complies with our username policy, so that your contributions with this username are recorded as contributions of your new username and rather than creating a new account, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice instead. Thank you.
