Association
[edit]Dear Alejandro: Hi. I wanted to ask you about a possible Hispanic wikipedians association here on the English wikipedia. The purpose would be to trade assignments with members of other Hispanic countries, so that they would write about a topic pertaining to our country while we write about a topic pertaining to theirs. Like a trade. We would benefit a lot by learning about our history as a whole and having other Latinos learn about our own countries at the same time.
That way also, we would promote unity between our paises hermanos. We could become an example to Hispanics around the world. Unfortunately, some Hispanics do believe we are not brothers, and we can begin with our example to prove them wrong.
What do you think, would you be interested in joining such an association?
Thanks and God bless you!
Your hermano in raza, Antonio El Torero de Madrid Martin
- Dear Alejandro: Hi! Thank you so much for your nice message on my talk page! It's awesome that you want to become a member of the association. Here is the link Wikipedia:Association of Hispanic and Latin American writers. The reason why we put Hispanic and Latin American writers is that we wanted both Spanish and Brazilian people to join. While Spanish people are Hispanic but not Latin Americans, Brazilians are viceversa, they are Latin Americans but not Hispanics! Anyways, just go there and write your name under the members list. Once you do that, someone will ask you to write an article about their country, and, to trade knowledge, you ask that person to write one related to Spain. That's the perfect way to unite as Hispanics and to learn more about our culture and expand the knowledge beyond our borders. Once again, thank you so much and God bless you! Sincerely yours, Antonio el rey de Puerto Rico Martin
Wasps and Relatives
[edit]Hello! According to your Babel do you speak English very well. Can you a translate a term please? I want to know, what is the term "Wasps and Relatives" translated to Catalan language? Thank you, very much, DocTaxon 12:06, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- Como sospechaba, DocTaxon ha ido a varios usuarios de wikipedia que hablan catalán para preguntar lo mismo. Venga, un saludo :P --Michael Retriever 21:56, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Image:Cover_logicofviolence.jpg
[edit]Hello Poldavo. This is about The Logic of Violence in Civil War. I notice that the picture of the book cover has just been deleted from Commons because no Fair Use images are allowed in Commons. Though I can't trace the history of this image, I'm guessing you must have uploaded it to Commons originally. Does this mean you still have the JPG file? I understand that it can be uploaded under Fair Use to the English Wikipedia. That would be a way of restoring it to the article. Let me know if I can help. I'm not sure where to get a picture of the cover myself, except by trying to find it on a publisher's site. EdJohnston 03:20, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hello Poldavo. See note on my Talk page about this. I'll supplement that with another option. If you have the original JPG still, either of us could re-upload it as a Fair Use image to the English Wikipedia, but it could *not* be uploaded to Commons to be used across multiple languages. If you can take your own photo, it could be put in Commons with a GFDL license, which is the best option. Trying to get the author to release the publicity photo may not be worth the paperwork, because it probably belongs to the publisher anyway. EdJohnston 06:04, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Josemmaravall.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Josemmaravall.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:06, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Poldavo! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 414 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Ignacio Sánchez-Cuenca - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- José Ramón Montero - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- José María Maravall Herrero - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 04:41, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
The article Ignacio Sánchez-Cuenca has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Unreferenced BLP, August 2009, may fail WP:ACADEMIC
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. –– Jezhotwells (talk) 15:54, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Pacho.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Pacho.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones (Talk) 00:18, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for May 13
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Better red than dead, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Franco and Basque Country (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
