Richard Dawkins

[edit]

WP is not a forum. Comments such as yours on the Talk Page of Richard Dawkins are extremely unhelpful. If this is going to be your manner of contributing, please find a new hobby. Thanks, bye. Baegis (talk) 23:11, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Likewise, your nearly identical comment about Dawkins on the Talk:Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed page contributed nothing to the discussion on how to improve the article. Please try to familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines and make sure you read the headers on talk pages to see what is on topic and how to properly comment on them. (For example, you should sign your comments on talk pages with four tildes.) Constructive criticism and helpful suggestions are welcome here, but pointless soapboxing is not. Thank you. -- HiEv 01:17, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is because I reported something Dawkins said in contrast to what is said about him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Poetsoul777 (talkcontribs) 13:42, April 20, 2008 (UTC)

Not really. As was pointed out to you earlier (here), it doesn't contrast anything about Dawkins, since he's written about it earlier and pointed out the pitfalls of it (though that part wasn't included in Expelled for some odd reason). Nothing he said was inconsistent with his views, though Expelled misleadingly made it look that way. Try reading this article. If you don't want to read the whole thing, just start at "Another example" and you will see the point he was really making during the interview. Now, this may be new to you, but his point is nothing really revolutionary, as he has written about it in his earlier books, nor does it support creationism/ID in any way.
Now, please understand, article talk pages are for discussing ways to improve that particular article, and I did not and do not see how your comments to either of those talk pages were supposed to do that, thus they were off-topic. The fact that the comments were both misleading (at best) and off-topic is why you received the replies you've gotten.
Finally, you have forgotten to properly sign your comment with four tildes ("~") again. Please try to remember to do this in the future when adding comments to talk pages. Thank you. -- HiEv 04:23, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
