New Page Reviewing

Hello, Pkbwcgs.

I've seen you editing recently and you seem knowledgeable about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 10:38, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

(when you come back from wikibreak) I notice that you have the "administrator someday" userbox. Reviewing new pages is one of the best ways to develop experience needed to successfully wield the mop. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 10:38, 27 November 2017 (UTC) @Insertcleverphrasehere: Hi, I would like to step up to the job and become a new pages reviewer. I know that reviewing articles is a new task that I will enjoy and I think I am fit to do it. I have read the guidelines and I am a registered Wikipedia user for at least 90 days, I have 7,072 undeleted edits according to [1] before this edit, I have moved pages before but not too occasionally and finally, I have never been blocked before for violating the 3 revert rule but I have been unblocked recently in September but no editors have reported me since this unblock. All this information is absolutely honest. Pkbwcgs (talk) 20:05, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the invitation as well! Pkbwcgs (talk) 20:08, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
Glad to hear you are keen. I am not actually an admin either, so your best bet is to file a request at WP:PERM and request the new page reviewer user-right. Cheers. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 21:16, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
Note that there are some restrictions on granting the NPR user-right with regards to recent 'behavioural' blocks. See the granting conditions. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 23:36, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Pkbwcgs. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Database Dumps

Frustratingly, database dumps won't open on my computer and with the fact that they are .bz2 so they won't load up on AWB in the database dump section. How can I get the latest database dump to load on my AWB? Pkbwcgs (talk) 19:59, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

Also, some database dump files are .gz files and they don't want to open and don't want to load up on AWB. Pkbwcgs (talk) 20:03, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
They are compressed files - see Wikipedia:Database_download#Dealing_with_compressed_files. Also I doubt if 5 million pages will load into AWB. Why do you want to do that? Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:06, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

WPCleaner

WPCleaner is not working on my computer. When I open it up, it is saying 'Class not registered'. Can you please help me out. Pkbwcgs (talk) 11:53, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

The exact error is

C:/Downloads/WPCleaner
Class not registered
Pkbwcgs (talk) 11:57, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

@Pkbwcgs:, that error message means you downloaded the Java class but did not actually install it. Take a look at Wikipedia:WPCleaner/Installation and try following the steps there again to register the actual Java code in the browser. You can also try closing and restarting the browser, sometimes that's all that is necessary for Java issues. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 12:58, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
@Eggishorn: Thanks for your help! It worked! Pkbwcgs (talk) 13:03, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
Cool. Glad to help. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 13:18, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
@Eggishorn: I have managed to load it up but it is quite slow and it is taking forever to load up the pages that are related to WP:WCW and I don't know how to save an edit using this tool. Pkbwcgs (talk) 13:22, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
@Pkbwcgs:, I don't know much about the tool itself so I can't help you with performance issues, I'm afraid. Have you tried asking for help at Wikipedia talk:WPCleaner? Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 13:26, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
@Eggishorn: I managed to make an edit at last over here! Pkbwcgs (talk) 13:30, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

WPCleaner - Bot tools

Do I need bot status to use the bot tools on WPCleaner or am I allowed to carefully use them without bot status? Pkbwcgs (talk) 19:46, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

To quote from the bot tools page, Use only this functions if you understand perfectly the modifications about to be made. Primefac (talk) 19:53, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Please stop

Please stop using whatever script you're running. Edits like this are the very embodiment of edits which make no difference to the audio or visual rendering of a page, and the speed with which you're machine-gunning through these changes easily brings you into WP:MEATBOT territory. Edits like this aren't just annoying, they're actively disruptive in that they flood watchlists and have the potential to mask problematic edits in the history, and this is a principle that has always been confirmed by overwhelming consensus whenever the point has been tested. Please only make cosmetic edits if you're also making a substantive edit to the article; this would be a really, really lame thing to be sitebanned over, and given that you've already been warned about using scripts to make inappropriate cosmetic edits, you're not going to be able to claim WP:AGF as a defence. Assuming you're using Wikipedia:WPCleaner or some variant, I strongly advise you to read the instructions first which make it absolutely clear that use of this tool for the purposes for which you're using it is specifically banned. ‑ Iridescent 20:06, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

@Iridescent: I can understand the amount of frustration you are in but it is actually helping [2] and I will definitely stop making these edits but it is from a Wikipedia project (WP:WCW). Pkbwcgs (talk) 21:07, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Also, this is a low priority task so I don't think it makes any difference if I make these edits. How about if I focus on the high priority tasks? Would this be a bit more helpful? Also, thank you for pointing this out and I clear understand and I will read the policies more carefully but this is part of a WikiProject which I am interested and I am not doing this to boost my edit count. Pkbwcgs (talk) 21:13, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
The edits I am making now are from the high priority section (e.g: #2 tag with incorrect syntax) so they will help Wikipedia better instead of just making edits in error #64. Pkbwcgs (talk) 21:28, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

December, 2017

Hi, I am Dehawki1, could you tell me what needs to be fixed on the page Mrs. Texas. I would like to remove the notability maintenance tag please. THX, Dehawki1 (talk) 02:19, 13 December 2017 (UTC)

@Dehawki1: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! In order to get rid of the notability tag, you need to cite additional sources. There are also a few problems with grammar and disambiguation which I will fix. I don't know a lot about this topic but I can suggest a some good source which you could use. I found this good source here which you could use that displays the previous titleholders of this competition. I can't find many more sources and it is a topic which I don't know much about. Try asking Wikipedia:WikiProject Beauty Pageants and maybe they can help you out. Pkbwcgs (talk) 18:19, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited TVR Tuscan Challenge, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page TVR Tuscan (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:03, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

Formatting

What is wrong with this edit? It fixed most of the formatting but broke some formatting at the same time. I have been investigating at what is wrong but I still don't understand what in particular broke some of the formatting. Pkbwcgs (talk) 16:43, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

What is being showed in the preview is different to what comes out when I save my change. Something is very wrong with the preview. Pkbwcgs (talk) 17:02, 25 December 2017 (UTC)
Fixed. As far as I can tell, the line breaks "|-" that were between some of the {{episode list}} templates broke things. When you have multiple tables and sections, previewing one section while the previous section is broken may lead to unexpected results because while that section may be OK, it may be influenced (and get broken) by problems in the previous section. Huon (talk) 17:12, 25 December 2017 (UTC)
@Huon: Thanks for your help. It is quite a long page so it is difficult to locate where the incorrect formatting is. Thank you again. Pkbwcgs (talk) 17:16, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that you recently added links to disambiguation pages.
