Extraordinary Machine does not need to claim to own the copyright to remove the lyrics from the article. Please see Wikipedia:Lyrics and poetry. Brief quotations are acceptable in the context of sourced interpretation of the work. However, including a Lyrics section of a copyrighted work is copyright infringement and should be removed from articles. 17Drew 22:08, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
- Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent contribution removed content from User talk:Extraordinary Machine. Please be careful when editing pages and do not remove content from Wikipedia without a good reason, which should be specified in the edit summary. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. Thank you. 17Drew 23:01, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
- Extraordinary Machine made no assertion to owning the copyright; his edit summary was "rm copyrighted lyrics". Copyrighted lyrics can and should be removed from Wikipedia by anyone, not just the copyright holder. 17Drew 23:23, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. The issue isn't so much that fewer copies would be sold. It's more that Wikipedia is a free content encyclopedia that others can reuse or modify however they want. Unfortunately, this means we have to avoid using any large sections of copyrighted text, and we sometimes can't include information that could be helpful for the reader. 17Drew 19:23, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. --Stuthomas4 (talk) 00:06, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions, including your edits to Chris Hoy. However, please be aware of Wikipedia's policy that biographical information about living persons must not be libelous. Any controversial statements about a living person added to an article, or any other Wikipedia page, must include proper sources. Thank you. SeveroTC 18:07, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living persons, as you did to Talk:Chris Hoy. Thank you. SeveroTC 15:49, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
These statements do not require references. They are just a matter of probability or likelihood--Pjotr Morgen (talk) 17:42, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to 2012 Summer Olympics, did not appear to be constructive and has been removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. - Basement12 (T.C) 17:54, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Please do not vandalize pages, as you did with this edit to 2012 Summer Olympics. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. Nsaa (talk) 17:55, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Why? My contribution was very constructive, because it was simply true. People like you try to conceal the truth always.--Pjotr Morgen (talk) 17:57, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
This is your last warning. You will be blocked from editing the next time you vandalize a page, as you did with this edit to 2012 Summer Olympics. ukexpat (talk) 17:59, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
File:BLP Spec Warn.svg | Your contributions to Chris Hoy have violated the biographies of living persons (BLP) policy for the following reason: Making unsubstantiated allegations of wrong doing. Please read the policy carefully, and avoid making future edits which violate it.
Remember that Wikipedia articles can affect real people's lives. We have an ethical and legal responsibility to ensure that biographical content is written with the greatest care and attention to verifiability, neutrality and avoiding original research, particularly if it is contentious. Consider this a firm and final warning, made pursuant to the requirements of this Arbitration remedy. You must alter your editing methods or face special enforcement sanctions, which could include restrictions on reverts or other specified behavior, bans from editing any BLP or BLP-related page or set of pages, blocks of up to one year in length, or any other measures which may be considered necessary. Kbthompson (talk) 18:29, 2 September 2008 (UTC) |
- Basically, you find a cited source making the allegation, then you can slug it out with people on the talk page over its inclusion. Without such a source you may be blocked without further warning. This is an absolute policy and not one subject to negotiation, or discussion. Kbthompson (talk) 18:29, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
This is your only warning.
The next time you make a personal attack as you did at User talk:Basement12, you will be blocked for disruption. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. The use of a sockpuppet to get around a block in order to make a personal attack on an editor, whilst incorrectly blaming me for vandalism, will not be tolerated.
