Sorry
[edit]I do not dialogue with eds who revert my messages on talk pages - regardless of whether I am wrong or not - it looked like an overemphasis upon the philipine element - I may well be wrong - but the issue is that in many south east asian articles - unreferenced material stays that way (uncorrected) for much longer periods of time and is not reverted. It is next to impossible to have discussions when messages are deleted. Thats all - cheers SatuSuro 14:06, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
responding to vandalism
[edit]Hi, and thanks for the report of vandalism. As you have done, the user should be warned, and the warnings escalated - should s/he continue, then reporting this is in order, and that will be followed by a short term of removal of editing rights. I will keep an eye on the user too. Many thanks for helping to keep Wikipedia a source of good information! docboat (talk) 13:09, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Removal of material
[edit]Hi.
In this edit, I've recently removed some material you added to the History of the Philippines (Before 1521) article back in May of 2009. It looked to me as if the material had been pretty randomly dropped into the article with little or no regard of the pre-1521 timeframe of the topic of the article, of surrounding context or of WP:MOS and WP:GTL. If you feel that parts of this material does belong in the article, feel free to re-incorporate it but please try to do that a bit more smoothly than was done earlier. Thanks. [edit]You are finding good sources of new info. I hope you are not taking my edits and comments personally :-) We look like the main contributors of late so look forward to working with you. Bagumba (talk) 00:11, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

[edit]This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at UFC 139, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. You are in violation of WP:3RR if you do not stop and discuss on the article's talk/discussion page, I will report you for blocking. This also pertains to the other article you are fighting about. I will review this information myself and come up with a consensus. —cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 00:18, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

- I apologize Cyberpower. I was only doing so because I was not receiving a response from any users. I will follow your advice and await for your response in terms of resolving the situation. Thank you and again I apologize and I will not revert or request assistance from other users
- In the meantime, I have requested page protection of both of the pages in question.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 00:40, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks again. As I already posted this on your talkpage but I would like to reiterate, please take everything into account and all the information and evidence that I have provided, including his American Nationality. Also if you look at the other articles and fighters that Cung Le competed against, including UFC and Strikeforce, the user Glock went to every single article and reverted it and used the communist flag to represent Cung Le. Please take into account the drastic actions and extreme comparisons (Osama Bin Laden) based on one picture that he used as compared to the evidence (including pictures, bios, and messages) that I have provided. I tried to resolve this through the discussion page by providing links that include pictures, quotes, and bios yet Glock continued to reject and refused to accept the information that I provided and continued to only use that one picture as his evidence. I know it's ridiculous and very time consuming for you to handle this, but I appreciate that you are taking the time to do this and put protection on Cung Le articles. But again, please look into all the articles that Glock reverted and changed that involves Cung Le. Thanks again. PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 00:57, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

MY DECISION
[edit]I have concluded with information on hand that the information on the page regarding his whereabouts, is America. The flag is to remain the way it is now and not be altered to his birth place.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 01:06, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks again for your time and cooperation. I agree with your decision and will no longer revert any of his articles, as I feel all the information that I have provided supports your decision. I personally do not understand why some other users do not understand that US citizenship can be obtained through applying and not only just through birth. Regardless though, you have been very helpful and again I appreciate your time for coming in and handling the situation LIKE A BOSS! PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 01:18, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- You're welcome however, Glock is contesting this with me. I am in for a long night. I will consult other users for their opinion on this matter.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 01:21, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- I am not surprised that Glock is contesting you. However, because you are taking the time to try and resolve this issue and ask others for their opinion, I will try even MORE evidence if I can to support that he is an American by Nationality. I have sent him more messages on twitter. I can't guarantee that Cung Le will respond though because I can see how it is kinda annoying asking questions that have obvious answers. If I can find any videos that relate to this situation, I will continue to post either here or on your talk page. One huge example is the Vietnamese-American Wikipedia page, Cung Le has been represented there for sometime now http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnamese_American. It even mentions the mass immigration that fled during the Vietnam war, including Cung Le and his family PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 01:36, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- I am about to call him right now. No source is better than actually hearing from him.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 01:38, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Even better! If you can, please bring up the fact about how he competed and coached Team USA and UFC.com has him quoting that he is an American Wushu Champion. I firmly believe the South Vietnam flag and Vietnamese is mainly his heritage. This is something that many ethnic groups in the United States and around the world still are very proud of, but that doesn't change their nationalities or citizenship unless they do so. Also let him know I sent him messages on twitter trying to acknowledge his Nationality vs Ethnicity PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 01:43, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

Recent reverts
[edit]Hi again - many thanks for the heads up regarding the revert issues you mentioned. I see you already have help on board, and if I can contribute I will, but for the moment I will sit and watch quietly. All the best. docboat (talk) 01:10, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- I believe the situation is resolved. I monitoring the respective pages to make sure nothing else happens.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 01:15, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you Docboat for taking the time to respond. As you can see the user I was having a revert war with had an obsession with going around articles that mentioned Cung Le and continued to revert and identify Cung Le with the current Vietnamese communist National Flag. This is extremely offensive to not only Cung Le but also many Vietnamese-Americans who fled from the fallen Saigon and only represent the flag of South Vietnam because that is their heritage. I believe I had provided significant evidence and information as to why American (USA) would be Cung Le's Nationality, as opposed to Vietnamese being his heritage/ethnicity which are two completely different things.
- Docboat, I left a message on your talk page asking for further assistance. I believe there needs to be more reliable information regarding a Facebook user who claims that he is a co-worker and knows specically what kind of passport that Cung Le actually holds. PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 04:47, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Furthermore, I would like to thank Cyberpower for handling this situation. I am personally shocked how someone believes one picture is 100% proof for everything, when other information provided proved otherwise. Anyways, thanks again for all your time and cooperation PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 01:24, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- I appreciate your praise. Glock has been blocked for 24h. He threatens to sue Wikipedia. You are on the verge of being blocked at this time. I recommend you go a little easy in the next few days.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 02:34, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- You got it. I will make no edits or anymore comments on his talk page until you advise or mention to me that I may do so. I will continue to view Wikipedia articles though, if you think this is not a good idea please let me know. But again I will not revert or edit any Wikipedia articles and will only leave messages on my talk page and other users who choose to communicate with me, besides Glock. - That's not what I meant. You can make edits to any talk page or article of your choosing. If your edits get reverted, don't engage in a revert war like you did today. You violated WP:3RR which immediately results in the user getting blocked for an extended period of time. Go easy on editing for a couple of days. Discuss things on the articles talk page to get things resolved. That's why it's there. If you want to respond to this do it now. I'm about to go to bed. I'm exhausted from this. Oh and you may want to check this out on what not to do in Wikipedia. Be sure to thoroughly review the page history. —cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 02:47, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- My apologies again. The only reason why I chose to do those reverts is because I felt the evidence I had provided was significant proof in order to do so. Also, I had reverted originally back to what other users had mentioned in both the UFC 139 and Cung Le's page acknowledging that he is an American by Nationality. I really don't know why this was a problem to Glock. I also don't know why Glock is making Legal threats, when he himself was trying to make Wikipedia edits. But I will probably take a break, at least for this weekend in terms of editing then. Thanks again and hope you get some good sleep. I'll continue to check my Talk page if you want to further communicate PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 02:54, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

- Thanks again Cyberpower. I must say though, apparently Vietnam may amended it's law to allow dual-citizenship. However, because of the recent tweet by Cung Le that he is not a dual-citizen, I will conclude that he is only an American by Nationality. I will go back and edit any comments where I stated that Vietnam does not allow dual-citizenship, which is no longer the case. Thanks again and I apologize for any headaches or trouble I may have caused. PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 20:10, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

- Cyberpower, please take my disputes further into consideration. - 1) Saigon no longer exists. 2) Saigon, Vietnam was his birthplace. 3) He fled from Saigon, Vietnam. 4) He is not a Vietnamese national and does not hold Vietnamese citizenship. 5) There are other ways of gaining U.S. citizenship, other than being born in the U.S.A. 6) Even UFC.com quotes him as calling himself an American. 7) The tweet, that is posted on his UFC.com profile, clearly shows that he says that he is a U.S. citizenship therefore it is safe to conclude that Vietnam is only part of his heritage as he does not hold dual-citizenship. List of current UFC fighters
[edit]- Alright, I can see you've already been very involved in this, and I understand that Cung Le is not Vietnamese. At the same time, the flags listed on this page are not meant to be a direct representation of citizenship. They are a direct representation of the flag that a fighter walks out under when entering the UFC ring. In the case of Cung Le, that flag is Vietnamese. I have done this for this article to avoid these sorts of arguments about who comes from where or holds which passports, the only information I'm interested in is that used by the UFC. This has been noted on every table in this article. If you feel like this is a blood issue, I'd be happy to hear why, and potentially create a system of exceptions. In the meantime, it is the easiest way for an article such as this one to stay clearly organized and well sourced. Thaddeus Venture (talk) 17:33, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- P.S. Essentially I'm saying I have zero interest in any other article about Cung Le and fully support him being listed as American on all of them... except perhaps this one, for the reasons of organization and preventing edit wars. Thaddeus Venture (talk) 17:39, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thaddeus, I respect your edits. Let me re-state, Cung Le is Vietnamese through heritage and ethnicity. However, he is not a Vietnamese national, the flag that was shown during the UFC 139 is not an accurate representation of Cung Le. Could it be that it was a mistake on UFC's production side to use that flag? Even Cung Le tweeted that he will ask them about it. If we are communicating in terms of him actually walking out, he walks out to the flag of South Vietnam on his shorts. He's practically done that his whole career. If you want to use the South Vietnam flag, that's fine. However, he was born in Saigon, Vietnam not Ho Chi Minh City. If we're going by the flag of his birth, technically it was South Vietnam. Using the current communist flag is disrespectful to Cung Le and the many Vietnamese-Americans fans who do not agree. Please take this into account. I have provided links to his twitter where he states look at his shorts.
http://cdn0.sbnation.com/entry_photo_images/2307621/11_SilvaLe_09_large.jpg. He literally came out to the 3 stripes, not the current one with one star that the UFC used in the tale of the tape. Also please review the Flag of South Vietnam article, it even states that many Vietnamese immigrants find the current communist flag of Vietnam as offensive. If you will consider exceptions, please at least use the Flag of South Vietnam if you do not want to use the USA one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_South_VietnamPinoyFilAmPride (talk) 18:14, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- If Cung Le himself has said that he would like it changed that is fine, and good enough for me, I'll leave it as the American flag. The South Vietnam flag wouldn't really make sense as it is a territory, I understand that he may wish to represent that territory, but it is not a recognized nation state. So, for the sake of smoothing things over I'll leave it as American. As I said though, I'm not really interested in what Cung Le personally broadcasts himself as, I'm only interested in what the UFC broadcasts him as, hopefully that will change in regard to his wishes.Thaddeus Venture (talk) 18:38, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your understanding Thaddeus. If you're going by UFC, please look at other sources and consider that. It states he is only from Saigon, Vietnam which if that is only a territory then to me it only makes sense to follow more information. UFC.com actually states that he fights out of San Jose, CA USA and he is quoted as referring to himself as a an American Wushu Athlete. My conclusion then is to use the USA flag because even his fighter profile supports that- http://www.ufc.com/fighter/Cung-Le PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 18:45, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- I am only going by UFC telecasts, as they actually use a flag reference similar to the article's, and by using one concrete source for every fighter it creates a consistency of form. Papy Abedi was born and grew up in the Congo before moving to Sweden. He lives in Sweden and probably maintains Swedish nationality as well as, possibly, Congolese nationality. But I can't be sure of which one or what would be considered principle, and trying to figure such things out for every fighter would be hugely time consuming. However the UFC advertises him as Congolese, thus the article does as well. I realize this is not a perfect system, but as I said, keeping a consistent and verifiable method across all fighters is the easiest way to go. I am totally willing to create exceptions for circumstances such as this one, in which a fighter expresses a distinct desire to be known by a held nationality other than his advertised one, but I'd rather make that an exception than a rule. (This is also complicated by fighters like Marcus Davis, Tito Ortiz, and Cain Velasquez who often promote themselves as belonging to nationalities that they do not, in fact, legally hold. It makes using a fighters personal preferences less trustworthy.) Thaddeus Venture (talk) 21:09, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Venture, I apologize for any trouble I have caused. But Cung Le finally tweeted that he is in fact a U.S. citizen and does not hold dual-nationality. I think it is only right to list his flag as the U.S.A. one. His tweets are also clearly shown on his UFC.com profile. I mean no disrespect you and again as I've told all administrators, I wish to deal with this in a civil manner.
- He just tweeted this -http://scribe.twitter.com/#!/cungle185 @Luv4theGame I am a US citizen. Who cares what they say! They have nothing better to do with their time. This is the UFC.com page, his tweets are clearly shown as well http://www.ufc.com/fighter/Cung-Le PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 05:44, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Cool story bro! Btw, that UFC.com page you linked says Cung Le is from "Saigon, Vietnam". Just pointing that out to you buddy. Glock17gen4 (talk) 07:23, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Saigon, Vietnam no longer exists buddy! Just pointing that out to you. You also seem to fail to realize that there is more than one way to gain citizenship, other than just through birth. Just point that out to you buddy! PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 08:25, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Glock, your evidence CLEARLY only shows his birthplace and nothing else. "From" can mean many things, including only birthplace. That does not define his current Nationality nor citizenship. Also look carefully at the UFC.com profile:
- "I am the only American Wushu Kung Fu Athlete to have three World medals." "CungLe185 @Luv4theGame I am a US citizen"
- 1999 Art of War Light Heavyweight Champion (China vs. USA) Honolulu, HI,1999 ISKA Light Heavyweight Sanshou Champion San Jose, CA, 1998 ISKA Light Cruzer weight Champion San Jose, CA,1998 Shidokan Team USA Champion Chicago, IL (Tournament Champion), picture - http://a1.ec-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/57/3a83a297fdeb7f1d02841979c9a0a4dc/l.jpg
- So again, these are facts. Not my opinions. All from his bio and on his UFC.com page. Your evidence does not prove anything other than his birthplace. Now please stay off my talk page. PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 08:45, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Per Talk page - "These flags are only used to list fighters in the same way that the UFC does, exceptions can be made for fighters who have expressed offense at their UFC flag listing and hold an alternate nationality." I think I have provided enough information as to why Cung Le would find it offensive to use the current flag of Vietnam. I request that the exception be made that the flag to represent him should be the USA flag. Even though UFC only indicates that his place of birth is Saigon, Vietnam, his profile also quotes him as being an American. Add the fact that he's also competed for Team USA in the past. That should be more than enough verifiable information that he is indeed an American.

Archiving the talk page
[edit]Would you like me to setup an archive system on your page?—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 01:37, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- Sure. If it's not any more trouble for you and you don't mind, then I wouldn't either. Everything you have done, especially resolving the issue is much appreciated. Thanks again. 07:13, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- It's no problem at all. You just have to answer few questions. The archival of sections is automatic.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 12:15, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- Would you like your archive to split when it gets too big?
- If yes, what would you like to have as you maximum archival size? Default is 70K which seems reasonable.
- If yes to the first question, how would you like to name the, numerically or by date?
- In order to preserve the talk page and not make it seem barren, how many of the latest threads would you like to keep on the page?
- What is the minimum number of threads to be archived to allow the bot to archive it. Recommended value is 1.
- How old do the threads have to be before they are archived. (age of section is determined by how old the latest post is)

- Please read my current messages regarding specific questions and verifying that apparent "Co-worker". PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 04:32, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Cyberpower, is there any way I can contact you through e-mail? I'm not sure how, but if you can leave a message regarding your e-mail. I would like to contact you regarding this whole situation. If I can do that of course or do I need to wait until I am unblocked? PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 00:50, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
- Oh dear. It appears I missed your reply. So sorry for that. E-Mail me here. As with the coworker situation, I am steering clear from that and consider it a closed topic that Cung Le is indeed an American Citizen. Would you still like me to setup an archive for you. Your talk page is starting to get cluttered. If you would like an archive, simply answer the questions.—cyberpower (X-Mas Chat)(Contrib.) 12:44, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

BAD NEWS
[edit]I have bad news. I contacted a coworker of Cung Le. His nationality is Vietnamese where he is represented by a red flag with a yellow star.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 01:00, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Cyberpower, I will respect your decision. However, please read this carefully if you can, can you please find out and ask the co-worker to specify. Did you ask specifically if he was a Vietnamese citizen or a American (USA) citizen? Citizenship can also determine Nationality. This is asking which passport or passports does he hold. If he truly was only a Vietnamese National, then he should not be opposed to the red flag with the gold star but his actions speak differently through his tweets and he would not hold a USA passport. Also, if he was only a Vietnamese national, how was he ale to compete for Team USA? Another point, sometimes people confuse the difference between Nationality vs Ethnicity. It's like, someone would ask me what is your Nationality? They don't expect me to say American, because what they're really looking for is my heritage/ethnicity. I will not revert his pages, but a co-worker could have misunderstood specifically your question. All the evidence I have provided including quotes, tweets, pictures are specifically from him and not just a co-worker. A co-worker and friend could anytime also could answer a question about me incorrectly. If there's anything I would want to ask, I ask to please do this. Also tell Glock to stay away from my talk page. His previous actions, including to sue, are outrageous and I would rather not have to do that and would rather communicate with administrators. If you have any other questions, let me know.
- I also saw who you spoke to on Facebook. The specific user you communicated with Facebook: redacted
- I also saw the specific conversation with the exact user who claimed to work for Cung Le: redacted
- Did you verify if he actually works for Cung Le? He also never mentioned that the UFC article quotes Cung Le as saying he is an American Wushu Athlete. That user in question also lists his work as Republic Polytechnic, that is rather suspicious. Then he stated, Cung Le is too busy and would not respond to some "kid". I would assume someone working in behalf of Cung Le would be rather more professional? That is rather suspicious, don't you think? Republic Polytechnic is here http://www.rp.edu.sg/ PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 04:12, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- http://twitter.com/#!/CungLe185/media/slideshow?url=http%3A%2F%2Ftwitpic.com%2F6fmuth Directly from his website. It would not make sense to represent the USA if he was not a citizen of the USA?
- I also saw the specific conversation with the exact user who claimed to work for Cung Le: redacted
- "I talked to a coworker" is not a reliable source. I'm not sure how Twitter counts, but I'd assume that if he has his own personal Twitter account that counts as a primary source. Barring a reliable secondary source on what citizenship he has, primary sources trump "I talked to a coworker", I believe. - The Bushranger One ping only 05:17, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- He just tweeted this -http://scribe.twitter.com/#!/cungle185 @Luv4theGame I am a US citizen. Who cares what they say! They have nothing better to do with their time. Bushranger, I believe it is within my rights to use this information and finally close this issue because Cung Le has specifically stated that he is a U.S. citizen. I will now go and revert his pages, if you think I am violating Wikipedia rules. Please let me know, and I will stop. Again, I am trying to handle this as civil as possible. His twitter account is verified, and is listed on Facebook page, CungLe.com, and on the OFFICIAL UFC.com page. This is the UFC.com page, his tweets are clearly shown as well http://www.ufc.com/fighter/Cung-Le PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 05:53, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Granted. I goofed. I will make sure everything is reverted to what is was. Sorry Bushranger and Pinoy.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 10:32, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as User_Talk:Cyberpower678 are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. Do not you my talk page to fight each other. —cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 10:28, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Hey Cyberpower, if I was blocked for arguing with Glock, I apologize and I will go ahead and wait until further notice. However, I would just like to let you know, as you stated previously Glock was a headache. I merely felt I was defending myself because he was provoking me. However, I do realize that because I chose to re-act, I also put myself in jeopardy of being blocked. But however, please take this into consideration if I can appeal my block. - I don't know why you were blocked by User:WilliamH. He blocked you for oversight—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 10:40, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- I apologize for any trouble I am causing, but I was surprised that you reverted his Nationality back to the Vietnam once after I thought it was resolved. This is why I was oversighting, especially when you decided to use the Facebook source. I would assume you would have at least verified it. Once you unblocked Glock, he started posting on my Talkpage, which I removed some of his comments, giving me the impression he was bragging. You stated yourself that he was a headache. I was merely trying to provide accuracy that Wikipedia tries to follow. I had thought the issue was resolved after the proof that I had provided and you closed the discussions. It was very surprising after you posted the "Bad News" section. I'm hoping you can sympathize and understand why I felt I was provoked. If you can please contact William and see if I can possibly be considered for being unblocked, please do. I am also willing to wait until further notice and let things cool down if you think that would be best. I am not going to threaten, jokingly or seriously to sue either. I just wanted to make sure the sources were accurate. That is all. Either way Cyberpower, thanks for your time. I did my best. PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 10:53, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Request reason:
I have discussed the issue at hand and why I was oversighting with Cybperpower. I did not mean to cause any disruptive behavior or anymore headaches. I had thought the issue was already resolved previously, as Cybpower had already closed discussions in the articles I was disputing. However, because Cyberpower relied on a different source I just wanted to see if that source was verified. Please take this into consideration that I was only trying to add to Wikipedia's accuracy of sources. Nothing more. I am willing to wait this out if other admins can consider my situation, as I was simply trying to help provide more sources.
Decline reason:
Based on evidence given to me via email by the blocking admin (based on its sensitive nature, it should not be posted here) I am very comfortable with leaving this block in place for the time being. Jayron32 02:55, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

What this "oversighting" means
[edit]It is ethically and editorially a very poor idea to contact other people (such as relatives, but in this case, a coworker) who are close to the living subject of an article. Unethical because these people have a right to privacy and we should not seek out information about their lives if it is not readily available (this is the "oversight" WilliamH was talking about). Editorially unusable because even if the subject/coworker/relative/etc answers, it is considered a primary source and therefore does not meet the verifiability criteria to be included. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia where facts are researched from reliable secondary sources are put together, not to be reporters who go out to interview subjects. The correct way is to try and look up for secondary sources (such as magazines), and if this information is not available (in this case, nationality) it should be dropped altogether until a reliable secondary source is found.
If you have any questions, please ask here. Once you have read and understood, place an unblock request and acknowledge this message. - Regards, Mailer Diablo 14:13, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

Thank you Diablo for taking the time to review the situation. I have read and understand what you have posted regarding oversighting, and I apologize for any rules that I may have broken as well as any further trouble that I may have caused. Again, I tried to resolve the situation directly with Cyberpower and was only questioning his source as well and requesting that he verify his sources prior to making a final decision . However, I believe the issue has been resolved. Thank you for your time and I am requesting to be unblocked and I will not attempt to oversight again PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 00:49, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

JLin
[edit]Thanks for your input. If you can comment on the three specific proposals at Talk:Jeremy_Lin#Proposal, or propose a new fourth one, it will help to reach consensus on this always fun topic. Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 08:33, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. I already made a proposal and it looks like it has been resolved. I was involved in putting the label of Jeremy Lin being the first American of Chinese or Taiwanese descent originally on Wikipedia. I would like to propose another sentence, but I want to let you know first and see what you think. I notice that there are a few users who want to make note of Jeremy Lin being Asian-American as well. I do like the sentence there that states he's one of the few, but what do you think of the sentence "Jeremy Lin is currently the only active Asian-American player in the NBA?" However, there are no sources, but on the other hand the other Asian-Americans that were listed are currently not active. The only person that I can think of is Nate Robinson, but that would be really reaching. Anyways, what do you think? I just thought it would also make it notable in reference towards his background PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 02:13, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Spoelstra
[edit]Well, I actually wouldn't mind if the lead mentioned somewhere that he was Filipino; I just thought the previous wording was problematic. I'll think about re-adding something. Zagalejo^^^ 22:40, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- Alright thanks. I just thought it would be better to consider both simply because we might have another similar situation with Jeremy Lin: Chinese vs Taiwanese. Not acknowledging being the first Filipino-American might leave a sour taste in people who solely recognize his Filipino heritage, which Erik Spoelstra has acknowledged and stated that he was proud PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 22:42, 22 June 2012 (UTC).

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:15, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
